Hostesses for the evening were the Guiders of the Ausable District who were represented by Ausable District Commissioner, Roberta Mortley, Exeter. Other head table guests were Clysdale Division Commissioner, Janice Hawkins, Kirkton, Mapleway Area Commissioner, Lois Kayler, Waterloo, Clysdale Division Treasurer, Nancy Traut, Kirkton and the speaker for the evening, Cathy In- gram, Stratford. Sherry Johnson, Stratford, Ranger, showed slides of her trip last summer toan International Camp for Scouts and Guides in Sweden and also a visit to Denmark. Staying with Swedish families, mountain climbing and folk dancing were other highlights of her trip: Angela Waite, Pathfinder of Mit- chell, described her area -sponsored trip to England and Scotland. Being interviewed by the BBC television camera crew while watching the Royal Wedding Route was a great thrill for both she and her family who were watching. Marg Angus who also went on the same trip, displayed her souvenirs. Karen Atkinson, of Kirkton, a former Pathfinder, had an interesting exhibit of her mementos from a year's exchange in Venezuela through the Rotary Club. Lynn Sippel of Monkton received an Award of Merit and Luella Nash of St. Marys received the Ontario Award. Cathy Ingram, a Brownie Guider from Stratford and a .member of Citizens Concerned' with Crimes against Children showed the film -Better Safe than Sorry" on how to streetproof children against emo- tional, physical and sexual abuse. One point she made was to put name tags inside children's clothes - not outside - because every child will respond to his/her name. Good and bad touching was discussed. A child should be taught to Say NO, Get away, Tell so- meone. A six year old child who screams "No" can scare off a 200 Ib. man who doesn't want to be caught. Leaders attending from Exeter Tigor 00 from Stephen Cofltra John -Paul Maurer. 'l'he grade seven winners were Julia Obre and Natasha Allen. Jennifer Pickering and Carrie Finkbeiner and Tim Brand and Jay Shervill. Julia Obre Six weeks ago four boys, Jeremy Mason, Richard Desjardine, Mike Bird. and John -Paul Maurer began an enrichment class on computers. At first we brushed up our skills at loading and operating programs pro- perly. We next experimented with the Print Diaster Program, making ban- ners and calendars. We also used the Gcowrite word processor and Geo - paint picture board. To complete the course we sampled some fun and educational games. It was a fun course and we all learned some new skills. He said he had entered the armed forces in 1976 and had left money with his mother to pay the outstanding fines for which his licence had been suspended. However. court officials have accepted only $28 of the money sent in and a further payment of $318 keeps getting returned. Mr. Wedlake added a further six- month suspension to the current one and gave Monteith 30 days in which to pay the fine. .A fine of $53.75 was levied against Rodney Easton, RR 1 Kirkton, who pleaded guilty to a charge of driving a motor vehicle without a current per- mit.
