UCW hidies at Thames

The February meeting of the
United Church Women was -held on
Monday evening with 20 ladies pre-
- sent. When the ladies arrived they
were each given a red heart with
scripture .verses on -love. The hearts
were cut in two and,they had to find
their matching heart.
Mrs. Don Richardson welcomed
everyone and gave the theme Valen-
tine's Day. She read a poem "Love".
We sang 'Joy, Joy, Joy".
Mrs. Murray Dawson read the
scripture 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and
Mrs. Ross Hodgert read the medita-
tion on Love. She also read a prayer
"prayers Are The Stairs To God".
Mrs. Richardson read a poem "God s
Love".
The offering was received by Mrs.
Hodgert and Mrs. Dawson with Offer-
tory prayer by Mrs. Bill Rohde. Mrs.
Rohde gave a reading "Inuit In Nor-
thern Quebec Resent Southern
Charity".
In the absence of a film strip, Mrs.
Richardson read about the Aborigines
of Australia. Mrs. Dawson showed a
couple of slides on the Aborigines. We
sang "Love That Is Kept Inside," and
Mrs Rohde gave a humorous reading
"A Farmer's Wife Mrs. Richardson
closed the . worship service with
prayer. • -

Fahner and Mary Draisey presented
a very interesting worship service

Mary Kenney presided for business.

Women at a Sunday Church service in
the spring. Lunch was served- by
Joyce Preszcator and Doreen
Lightfoot.
The sermon topic at Zion United
. Church was taken from Hosea 14:1-9
and Luke 15:11-32 titled "The World's
Greatest Short Story." -
Choir practice is Wednesday even-
ing at 8 p.m. in the Sunday School
rooms. -
There will be a s�'e�tl�tiiar-entitled.
"Personal Growth and Leadership
Skill Development". to be held on
Wednesday. February 11, from 9:30
a.m. to 3 p.m. This one -day seminar.
which is to encourage creative per-
sonal growth in women and others,
will be held at the Zurich Mennonite
Church.
The annual meeting will beheld on
Monday February 16. There will be a
pot luck supper at 6 p.m. which will
be followed by the meeting at 8 p.m.

meeting of the U.C.W. when Mr'Dave
Kemp, principal of Hensall Public
School will -be the guest speaker.
He taught among the Eskimos on
James Bay several years ago. We
sang the."Magic. Penny" and Mrs.
Jeffery closed with prayer. Group U
served Iuhch and a social time was
'spent.
. The Sacrament of the Lord's Sup-
per -will be celebrated at the Sunday
church service on February 15 at
11:15 a.m.
The Messenger meeting will beheld
next Monday evening February 16 at
7 p.m. at Elimville Church.
The Explorers will - hold their
meeting on -Thursday February 26.
