By taking five of a possible six points this week the Irish upped their season total to 54, six ahead of the se- cond place Belmont Bombers. The , Lucan club has four remaining games while Belmont has only three left to - go: Wednesday, -the Irish downed the Brussels Bulk -8-5, Friday they played to a 4 -4 -tie with the 'I'hantesfordTro- jans and Sunday downed the Thedford Lumberjacks 7-2 ' The Irish will be at home at the 1 ,lean Community.(tntre tonight. However, the two squads also now find themselves back in the race for top spot as both scored wins over the front running Brussels Balls. Exeter dropped the Bulls by a 6-4 count on Friday night at the rec cen- tre, while !Mitchell went into Brussels on Sundae afternoon and scored a 5-2 triafnph over the slumping Bulls. Mitchell also clohtiered Clinton on Fridiiy to lake a one -point lead over their Exeter namesakes for second place. Mitchell now trails Brussels by live ,points, while the Exeter crew are six _behind the loop leaders All three teams have six games remaining in the schedule. The first period belonged to the Tro- jans as Scott MacDonald fired two successful _shots. Wayne Urbshott replied for Lucan on passes from Jesse Crawford and Scott Denomy. In tfie middle frame, Urbshott tied the score on a power play with assists going to Joe Febrey and Crawford and in a similar situation Grant Larsen registered from Dean Doerr and Bob Thirlwall. The third Lucan goal of the second period and in a span of less than a minute was fired by Joe Febrey on passes from Wayne Urbshott and Ron Goodhand. Another good start In Thedford Sunday, the Irish jumped into a 3-1 first period margin and were never headed. Defenceman• Scott Denomy fired two of the opening scores. One came on an unassisted effort and the other . on a pass from fellow blueliner Brad Hodgins. Mark Bannen converted a pass from Brad Mui to complete the first period tallying. In the second se ion. Wayne Urb- shott and Terr Knowles and Grant Larsen were the Lucan marksmen. Scott Denomy, - Paul Barnes, Brad Muir and Joe Febrey assisted. In the final 20 minutes of play, Glenn Marshall converted passes from Barnes and Denomy to com- plete the Lucan scoring. Giselle Charrette and Bryden Gryseels with assists going to Becci Farquhar, Becky Morgan. Car- rie Lovie and Tonya Riehl. The lone goal for Huron Park was fired by Shauna Becker on a pass from Melanie Jones. Three goal efforts by GiselleChar- rette and Jayne Rowe paced the Ex- eter victory over Forest.
