Broncos win cbarnpi.nship of atom tournamont in Liman
The Exeter Broncos won the 'C'
championship of the weekend atom
hockey tournament in Lucan with
three straight victories.
In their opening game, the Broncos
edged Belmont 5-4. They followed
with a 3-0 blanking of Pork Stanley
and won the title by defeating Clim
ton 7-3.
Joel Campbell of the Broncos was
named the most valuable player on
the strength of five goals in the cham-
pionship win over Clinton. An of his
goals came on unassisted efforts.
The other scores for the Exeter
youngsters were fired by Sean •
McCann on a solo dash and Jeff
Lingard on a pass from captain Steve
Farquhar.
In the victory over Port Stanley,
Steve Farquhar started the Exeter
scoring on passes from Matt Godbolt
and Jeff Lingard. Next came Sean
McCann's successful shot with assists
going to tan Jean and Paul Charrette
and Mark Brintnell wound things up
by cashing in passes from Farquhar
and Lingard.
Tie Broncos scoring in their fiat
start, a 5-4 win over Belmont was well
spread with five different players
sharing in the marksmanship.
Putting the puck into the Belmont
net were Ian Jean, Joel Campbell,
Paul Charrette, Steve Farquhar and
Sean McCann. Campbell hopped set
up two of the scores and single assists
went to McCann, Charrette and Jean.
TheBroncos under the direction of
coath Paul Charrette turned in strong
defensive efforts in all games.
Goalie Darren Kints was in fine
form in backing up the defence. He
recorded one shutout.
The Brohcos are in for a busy week
upcoming. They will be in Forest,
Thursday night, travel to Ridgetown
Friday, and will be back at the South
Huron Rec Centre at 4:30 p.m. Sun-
day. All three are OMHA playoff
contests.

Winter rec programs
now in full swing
All winter programs through the
South Huron Recreation Centre are
now in full swing with session one of
micro -wave cooking ending February -
11.
Session two of micro -wave is set to
begin Wednesday, February 18. but
we need at least 15 registrants to go
ahead with the program or we will
have to cancel. Anyone interested in
signing up should drop in at the rec
centre office between 9-12 and 1-5 or
call the office at 235-2833.
Micro -wave runs for four weeks
from 7:-30 to 9:30 at the high school -
home ec. room, February. 18, 25.
March 4 and 11 and costs $27 per per-
son. The course is taught by Centralia
College Home Economist Deb
-Campbell.
A mixed sno-pitch tournament
operated by the Exeter Grays fastball
team will be taking place at the Rec
Centre on Saturday, February 21.
Twelve teams are now finalized for
the event with games taking place
from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. A dance
. with free admission follows the tour-
nament finals. Come on over to the
Rec centre and catch some snowball
on the 21st.

The Exeter pee wees dropped two
straight Ontario Minor Hockey
Association "C" playoff -games this
Week. They were defeated 4-2 by
Lambeth and edged by Forest 4-3.
In the loss to Lambeth, Joel Camp-
bell and Brett.Lammie were the Exp
eter marksmen on passes provided by
Jim Ahrens and Steve Dubarry.
Against Forest the first Exeter goal
was notched by Joel Campbell on an
unassisted effort. Fred Godbolt com-
pleted a,three-way passing combina-
tion with Jason Heywood and Steve
Dubarry and David Schwindt wound
up the scoring by converting a'pass
from Campbell.

Rhigette petites lose to atoms
Thursday, the Exeter Petite
Ringette team played against the
HensaJl hockey atoms in a game of
ringette. The girls came -out on the
-short end of the stick losing 6-5.

Exeter Kinsmen ---Generals.- ran
their record in the DILL% "C" midget
playdowns to two and (Inc with a-5-1
victory. over Forest, Saturday in
Exeter.
Larry Lewis of Exeter opened the
scoring with a first period goal
assisted by Bryan Quinn and Tom
Moore. Lewis started a four goal se-
cond period with a power play marker
with the assists going toJim Dickens.
Darryl McCann then scored from
Shawn Moore and then set up Jeff
- Kints to open a 4-0 lead. Bryan Quinn
got the final Exeter tally on a solo ef-
fort before Rob Henry scored a third
period tally to spoil Fred Gregus'
shutout bid.
The Generals next action in the

Team Circus
Sunday. turned into another ex-
tremely satisfying day of racing for
[fully Gully's Team Circus. The track
was good, the temperature cool, and
a good number of sleds came out for
the days events al Holly Gully.
The program ran smoothly. givini}
Team Circus mechanics, Mike Kens.
Itob Baxter and Doug Wolfe time to
keep things on the Exciter running
smoothly.
Team driver Brian Eickmeier
managed to finish. first in pro stock,
mod stock IV. AA improved stock; A
improved stock, 13 improved stock,
AA stock, and 13 stock.
He finished second in A stock for
andther gratifying day with the nut-
ty Gully sponsored Exciter.
Eickmeier also won the trophy for
the "Top. Stock Driver" of the day.
Team members will be busy this
week re -studding the track and
preparing for a two day drag racing
event this week end, February 7 and
8 at Waterford.
Three goals by Carrie Simpson and
singles•by Lisa Forrest and Suzanne
Steciuk kept the game close. Assisting
on the goals were Cara Gardner. Jody
Hamilton; Christie Bedard and
Cheyenne Westlake.
Other than receiving five high stick-
ing penalties the Hensall boys picked
up the rules of Ringette very well.
Brian Gardner led the boys scoring
and- penalty - minutes, with •three
goals, one assist and six minutes in
the- box.
Also picking up points for flensall
were Shane Pepper. Thomas Scot-
chmer, Jamie Brock, Greg Dalrym-
ple. Derek Campbell and Shawn
Lovett.
After the tun on Thursday. the
Petites went hack to work Saturdai
beating Forest 11-1. Leading Exeter's
firing squad w•as Jill Sararas with -
three goals and one assist..
Christie Bedard. Lisa Forrest and,
Carrie Simpson each added doubles
- and singles scores came from Cara
Gardner and C'hey'enne Westlake. •
