look at area's history
Twenty-five Grand Bend Golden
Agers met Wednesday afternoon at
St. John's Parish Hall. They were
taken on a beautifully scenic trip
through the Pinery Park, with a slide
show presented by Case Vanden-
bygaart, of the Pinery service. They
saw winter scenery, sunsets, and
wildlife - rabbits, foxes, deer, squir-
rels and many bird. There also was
the ski slope and skating area. "
Then they were taken back in time
to the early 1900's, when the main
street of Grand Bend was a dirt road
in the era of the Model T Ford cars.
There was the old Lake View Casino.

Church of God
Sunday School opened the service
at the Church of God this past week,
followed by the morning service with
George-Winegarden as song leader
and Michelle Vincent at the piano. She
also accompanied her mother in a
special solo.
In the evening service they com-:
mended Richard Desjardine for sing-
ing
inging his entire selection without benefit
of words or notes, accompanied by his
mother at the piano. Millie Desjar-
dine acted as song leader for the
selected hymns, with Michelle Vin-
cent at the piano, and Millie's hus-
band Morley at the organ. '
In the morning service, Pastor Des-
jardine used as his scriptural
reference, Romans 12: 1-8, with verse
6 as the text for a timely message
.about: "Using our Talents". In the
evening, Rev. Desjardine chose Luke
15: 1-10, the parable of the lost sheep.
He stressed the shepherds concern
over the lost sheep, his joy when it
was found, and his desire to have all
100 safely within the fold, not just 99.
He closed with a challenge to the
church family to pray, find and
befriend the lost.
Sympathy is extended to the
bereaved Thompson families and love
and compassion to the sick and shut
ins on the community. If we love God,
as we say we do, let us demonstrate
that love to others. ,
