HOLIDAY WITH SANTA CHRISTMAS IS COMING
By Adani Ellis
Grade 3 Hensall Public School
One day a long time ago, I had a very
special holiday with a very special
person, Santa.
I tried the toys and made clothes and
went in the sled.
Wow we went zoom and landed on the
ground. Santa got stuck inside of a
chimney. He wiggeld and squirmed.
At Last 1 went back to the North Pole
to get more elves but still we couldn't
get Santa out. He lived in that
chimney for ever.

The truth of decoratIng the tree
Unfortunately decorating the u'ee is of Christmas is in the air with
not as glamorous as shown on the everyone at home safe and sound,
television with the whole family sing- even though there are hockey play -by -
Aug Christmas carols. Still the sense plays in the background!
By Fayeanne Love
Grade 8 Huron Centennial
Since the first of December the
question in the minds of all young
children is: "When do we get the
Christmas tree?" Parents can usually
put off this question for at least two
weeks and then the older children
begin jo whine also. This is when
"mommy" and "daddy" finally give
in.
Usually "daddy" gets the job of tak-
ing the kids to pick out the tree. After
many years of experience "daddy"
objects but doesn't get anywhere and
decides Saturday is the day.
Now when they arrive at the tree
farm all the kids scatter to find the
tree they want. As it turns out four dif-
ferent ones! After some pleading and
begging the choice is narrowed down
to two. Then the decision lies in "dad-
dy's" hands. He chooses the tall but
wide one. They load it up and head for
home.
"Mommy;' decides to let the
Christmas tree dry. She then sends all
the kids in different directions to
gather up the decorations.
Then on Saturday night "daddy"
brings in the tree and sets it up. Now
in the minds of all, this is a family pro-
ject but this is Saturday night need 1
explain? After some nagging "dad-
dy" is drawn from the T.V. to string
up the lights. He then disappears
again to check the score.
By the time the tree is covered in
tinsel, balls and candy canes, the kids
are out of humor. They argue over
certain ornaments or that someone
did more work then someone else did
or about anything they can think of.

At the Granton United Church, the
Rev. Bruce Pierce was in charge of
the service and entitled his message
"The Glory of Christmas". Even the
poorest peasant tries to see the depths
and senses the glory of Christmas.
Christmas comes and goes, the lowest
and highest of people experience its
glory, said the minister.
In the children's time, Rev. Pierce
told them a story of how the children
brought their allowance to school so
that presents could be bought to help
the poor people. Lighting the advent
candle on the advent, wreath was Mrs.
Ben Kop, Sunday school teacher. This
denoted "the gift". Jesus was the gift.
Receiving the sacrament of infant
baptism from the Rev. Pierce was

Ho Ho Ho. It was so much fun when
my elves and I made presents by
ourselves back in 1986. Children don't
send me letters any more. Now they
just call me on the telephone, no
thanks to Alexander Graham Bell. No
trouble what -so -ever. Sometimes I
think no one care anymore.
Everybody just takes me for granted.
Being Santa Claus is a big respon-
sibility you know. You try delivering
all the presents to the world in one
night.
I once had one elf named Scooter.
Ile was always by my side. he never
let me down till he went off to law
school.
It's hard being Santa but it's what
make the children happy and I love it!
