However, that lead over Mitchell has shrunk to a single point and they have a game in hand over the locals. The Hawks also dropped further off the pace being set by the front - running Brussels Bulls. The latter beat the Hawks 6-2 on Sunday and now have.a nine -point edge and also one game in hand. The other loss of the week came in Exeter, Friday, when the visiting Lucan Irish pound- ed out a convincing 9-4 triumph. The local pucksters have four games this week before the Christmas break and the outcomes could be crucial to their efforts to stay near the top of the loop. Tonight ( Wednesday) they host the Bulls and need a win to have any hope of still catching top spot. Friday night, the Mitchell crew will be in town for a battle over spcond place and the following night the Hawks get a chance to avenge their loss to the Irish when they travel to Lucan for an 8:15 p.m. contest. The busy week concludes on Sun- day afternoon with a home contest against Thamesford. It's scheduled for Hensall with the starting time of 3:30 p.m. Irish jump early The Lucan Irish scored after only nine seconds in Friday's game at the ret centre and they then built it up to FARMERS AT THE RINK — It was Farmers Appreciation Night Sunday night at the Exeter Mohawks senior game against the Elora Rocks.
