Dear Sir,
In many cases when a substantial
donation is made to our hospital, we
publicly acknowledge through a photo
in the Wednesday paper. There are,
however, occasions when this is not
possible and yet we would like to
publicly express thanks for such
donations.
The hospital has received a.11,000
donation from the South Huron Phea-
sant Association. This donation comes
as a result of Mr. Neil Romphf and
Mr. Dale Passmore's efforts and
commune mindedness.
I wo like to .thank both Mr.
Romph and Mr. Passmore for keep-
ing their hospital in mind and helping
our equipment fund with this
donation.
Respectfully,
Donald S. Currell
Administrator
The Hon Jack Riddell MPP
Minister of Agriculture
Dear Jack,
During our conversation of
November 1, 1986, you reassured me
that Bills 45 and 46 were enacted by
the Minister of Health, the Hon. Mur-
ray Elston, in the best interests of
Pharmacy, especially the small
operator. You used the words "gross-
ly exaggerated" and "totally un-
founded" to allay my greatest fears.
In light of this, I would be grateful
if you would explain why
A - I must absorb losses of up to eighty
per cent on many drugs in my
inventory. •
B - Install a computer costing in ex-
cess of $20,000 in order to keep track
of my losses and also, to issue receipts
to people who do not pay for their
prescriptions (senior citizens etc. )
knowing that such receipts are inac-
curate or false. The reason for this,
I suspect, is to enhance the chances of
• the Ontario liberal party at the next
election.
Yours sincerely

To the editor.
I was shocked and dismayed to
realize that you could diminish the
dignity of dieing so callously on the
front page of your paper last week.
Pretty cheap journalism in my
hook bordering on slanderous com-
ments printed posthumously.
I sincerely hope that the author of
the article is perfect right to the grave
or his epitaph may be marred by the
apathetic media or yellow
journalism.
My sincere sympathies to the fami-
ly and friends ofr,Ken Kuhn,
Most sincerely

Through the revenue from our
bingo we would like to be able to con-
tinue our. donations to ' haritable
" organizations and sponsorship of a
minor hockey team, Girl Guides and
free skating at our local arena: "The
money (rpm bingo is used solely for
these
purposes.
At the Auxiliary meeting in
November. »at and listened to the
long list of 'requests for donations
from various organizations, which is
customary at this particular time of
year and I wondered how we can
maintain our high standards and con-
tinue to support this long list of
requests.
Every organization is trying to do
their best to help people less fortunate
than ourselves.
Granted the legion Auxiliary's
obligations are to our veterans and
the community in which we live.
Anyone who -read the coverage of our
35th anniversary will know we have
lived up to our obligations. ' •
It is only through the support of our
community that we can continue to
meet our obligations.
Help make our bingo a success in
1987.
Thank you for allowing me the op-
portunity to express my views.
Sincerely,
Barbara Hearn
Dear Sir:*
I am a teacher at South Huron
District High School and a resident of
Stephen Township in Huron County.
I am objecting to a proposal by the
Huron County Council to have a
Private Member's Bill passed (Coun-
ty of Huron Act Pr. 7 - a bill to dissolve
the Huron County Library Board and
make the library board a committee
of council).
I feel that it would not be in the best
interests of the county's residents for
the bill to be passed for the following
reasons:
1. The Provincial Library Services
in the past have served the com-
munities of Ontario very well and
library boards made. up of private
citizens have been quite effective in
the past.
2. The Public Libraries Act, 1984
provides for many checks and
balances on the library board and in
our case Huron County council has a
majority on the present library board
of 4 to 3.
3. The Library Board is financially
accountable to the county council.
4. A library board should be able to
operate effectively in a county
without being subjected to occasional
political pressures from certain in-
terest,,oi pre4litgegroups.
5. The Public L,Jraries Act, 1984
seems to be serving the needs of
towns, cities, townships and counties
in the rest of the province. Why is the
present act not suitable for Huron?
6. It seems that dangerous
precedents are being set if this bill is
passed. This could lead to a private
member's bill for every municipali-
ty in the province which is unable to
make its library board work accor-
ding to the legislation in the Public
Libraries Act, 1984.
7. By legislation library board
meetings are open to the public. If the
board becomes a committee of coun-
ty council there is nothing to prevent
the council from declaring each
meeting as an in camera meeting.
8. The solicitor for the county has
stated that the bill's passage would
result in only "cosmetic changes" to
the library board. If this is the case
then I must ask why the present
Public Libraries Act is not satisfac-
tory for Huron County.
In conclusion, I would like to say
that we in Huron are proud of our
