Technological studies programs are an important part of the overall curriculum. For some students, technical courses provide an incen- tive to remain in school. Don Dool, superintendent of schools, says that, "by clarifying the intent of these programs for teachers, the statement of purpose provides a frame of reference for planning courses and using instruction methods. It . also sets criteria for evaluating programs."
