Baptismal service
Hensall United Church was filled to
capacity on Sunday morning for the
regular morning worship. Mr.
McDonald conducted the worship and
Norma Pryde was the organist. Elva
Forrest greeted the congregation and
Bill Fuss, Ross Veal, Charlie Hay and
Claire Hoffman were the ushers. Gor-
don Hamilton and Audrey Christie
looked after the baby and toddler
care.
Soloist for the service was Cathy
Pryde who sang some of the well-
known and loved hymns, "He's got
the Whole World in His Hands", "All
Day, All Night" and while the parents
and children returned from the alter
to their seats following the baptism,
"He Loves Me, Too." Cathy also told
the children's story and sang with the
children "Kum Ba Ya".
During the baptismal the following
children were received into the
church: Jeremy David Hewitson, son
of David and Doreen Hewitson, Lisa
Anne Koehler, daughter of Norman
and Cathy Koehler, Amy Leigh Mof-

The Hensall Nursery School held a
successful open house and orientation
on Tuesday, August 25. Prospective
parents and children stopped by to see
the school and equipment.
The teacher, Liz Jay was on hand
to outline her ideas for the 1986/87
year and she met with each family to
hear their expectations.
Sharon, Lois & Bram returning
The Hensall Nursery School has an-
nounced that they are sponsoring a
return visit by the very popular
children's entertainers - Sharon, Lois
& Bram.
Their only are concert this year will
be held at the Exeter high school on
Thursday, October 9 at 4:30 p.m. and
7 p.m.

Little People in Exeter and The Birch
Tree in Hensall or telephone

Mr. McDonald spoke on the subject
"It All Begins with Baptism", saying
Jesus' ministry began with his bap-
tism and so our life, as part of the
family and household of faith, begins
with our baptism.
During the service the Christian
Education staff were installed. In the
Sunday Church School: Superinten-
dent - Glen Hayter; treasurer - Bill
Reid; Kindergarten department - Lin-
da Alexander and Debbie Collins;
primary department - Tim Brock and
Elaine Corbett; junior department -
Janis Bisback and Joanne Rowcliffe;
intermediate department - Beth
McGee and senior department - Pam
Mallette.
In the through -the -week Church
School groups: Nursery roll - Mildred
Kyle; Messengers - Bonnie Gould;
Bev Bell, Rose Gasse; Explorers -
Shirley McAllister, Margaret Cole,
Dorothy Brintnell and Santosh Malik;
the Canadian Girls in Training - Lin-
da Traquair and Susan Stephens.
The congregation were reminded
we still need an assistant superinten-
dent and a secretary for the Sunday
Church School.
The flowers at the front of the
church were very beautiful with the
setting on the communion table in lov-
ing memory of Mrs. Janet Victoria
(Rowcliffe) Knight, great-
grandmother of Amy Moffat and
mother of Norma Pryde. The colour-
ful glads were placed by Klaas and
Rita Van Wieren.
The congregation were reminded
that next week there will be a presen-
tation of "The Kinds on the Block",
a puppet style service telling of the
oheness of all of God's children. They
were also reminded that the Ven-
turers would be holding a Yard and
Bake Sale on Saturday, September 20
and any donations would be most
welcome.

United Church met this past week and

Plans were made for the Open
House at the Manse on Sunday,
September 14 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The whole
community is invited to attend, see
through the manse and have tea in the
diningroom.
Further plans were also made for
the Centennial Service to be held on
Sunday, November 16 when all the
former ministers will be back to
assist with the service. Rev. Wilbur
Rogers will preach, and assisting will
be Revs. Currie Winlaw, Harold Cur-
rie and Donald Beck. Fallowing the
service a Centennial meal is planned
and the afternoon will be spent view-
ing the antique displays and picture
gallery and in visiting.
Minor hockey
At a meeting last Wednesday even-
ing it was decided to hold registration
for all levels of minor hockey on
September 15 and 16 from 7-9 p.m.
fhis will take place at the arena.
Anyone not registered by then will
pay a $25 late fee. For more informa-
tion on rates etc., please contact the
arena office.
A skate-a-thon will be held to help
raise funds for ice time. This event
will take place Saturday morning Oc-
tober 18 at the Arena. Prizes will be
awarded to anyone who has sponsor
pledges totalling at least $50. Sponsor
forms will be available at .registt`a-
tion. We hope that regular hockey
practices will begin in mid-October.
SHUFFLEBOARD
The Shuffle courts at the Hensall
Arena are freshly painted and ready
for the Happy Pushers to meet on
Thursday, September 11 at 1:15 p.m.
Newcomers are always welcome. We
hope to see you there.

First flower
show very
successful
The Hensall Horticultural Society's
first annual flower show was a re-
sounding success. A great many peo-
ple turned out to see "September
Glory" and enjoy a Leisurely cup of
tea while surrounded by prize-
winning blossoms.
The winner of the door prize
donated by The Flower Basket was
Mrs. Annie Reid of Hensall.
The overall winners of the show
were: 1st - Sandra Turner, Varna;
2nd - Helen Turner, Varna and 3rd -
Bill Gibson of Hensall.
Congratulations to everyone who
worked so hard to make the day suc-
cessful and thank you to all who turn-
ed out in support.

PUBLIC MEETING
To determine the need for a revision pf the Village of Hensall Secondary Pian and to consider
a proposed Official Plan Amendment affecting the Village of Hensall.
TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the County of Huron will hold a public meeting
on Monday, October 20, 1986 at 7:30 p.m. in the upstairs Conference Room of the Hensall Arena
to consider two issues - 1) to allow the public to comment on the need for a revision of the
Secondary Plan for the Village of Hensall under Section 26 of the Planning Act (1983) and 2)
to consider a proposed Official Plan Amendment under Section 17 of the Planning Act (1983)
which has been prepared by Hensall Council as a proposed 5 Year Review. The Planning Act
(1983) requires that municipalities provide the public with the opportunity through a special
meeting of Council to comment upon the need for the revision of the Village Secondary Plan.
This meeting is an opportunity for anyone with comments or suggested changes to make their
thoughts known to Council.
The proposed Official Plan Amendment seeks to carry out revisions in accordance with Coun-
cil's review of the Secondary Plan and includes the following:
1. Site Plan Control Policies
2. Community Improvement Policies
3. Policies reducing the requirements for notice for public meeting for site specific zoning by-
laws from 30 days to 21 days.
4. Policies related to establishment of Group Homes, Nursing Homes, Rest Homes. Home Oc-
cupations and Medical facilities in the Residential area.
5. Economic Development Policies.
6. Policies related to the Use of Holding Zones.
7. Policies related to Developmental Designation
8. Policies directing regular review of the Official Plan.
9. Policies encouraging energy conscious design.
10. Policies promoting the establishment of an Industrial Park
11. Indication that the anticipated future use of lands currently designated Special Commercial
is for residential purposes
12. Recognition of recently annexed lands.
13. Update of the provision of municipal services and commercial area improvement projects.
14. Renumbering of section numbers to allow for the incorporation of new sections.
15. Updating references to section numbers of the Planning Act in accordance with the Plann-
ing Act 1983.
16. References to specific businesses in location descriptions within the text changed to general
location descriptions.
17. Updating references to RSO date of the Ontario Heritage act.
18. To make a variety of amendments to Schedule 'B', the Land Use Plan, to ensure conformity
of the draft zoning by-law and the Land Use Plan. The amended Schedule 'B' =also includes revised
municipal boundaries in accordance with annexations undertaken in 1982.
ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or make written or verbal representation either
in support of or in opposition to the proposed official plan amendment.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION relating to the proposed official plan amendment is available for
inspection at the Huron County Department of Planning and Development between 8:30 a.m.
and 4:30 p.m. and the Hensall Village Office.
