Cowgirls out of playoffs
The Crediton Cowgirls ladies
fastball team were put out of playoff
competition by losing three of their
four semi-final games.
The ladies came out strong against
London by defeating them in their
Cost showing 8-3 and then lost 94 at
home. Their next team, Parkhill, who
in league play were eveay► matched
with Crediton won their first game
12-2 and then trounced Crediton by a
score of 24-6.
In their first game against London,
the Cowgirls came out strong with
two players dominatingthe offensive
Brenda Morgan pounded out a
home nm, triple and two doubles.
Teresa Van Raay collected a home
run and three singles. Debbie Lord
helped the cause with a triple and
single and Fay Schenk notched a dou-
ble and single. Adding single hits
were Lori Deviaeminck, Kate Steeper
and Pauline Brannon.
Brenda Morgan was also very
strong on the defensive notching up
eight strikeouts.
In the their second game, the ladies
were short three runs to notch a tie.
Leading Crediton at the plate was
Kate Steeper with a triple and a
single. Karen Williams pounded out
a home run in the seventh and Bren-
da Morgan a triple in the third. Ad-
ding single hits were Deb Lord,
Teresa VanRaay, Tammy Regier and
Lori Devlaeminck.
In their first meeting with Parkhill,
the Cowgirls were leading 1-0 until the
fifth inning when Parkhill began
pounding out balls. Too many
strikeouts and too many stranded
base runners were Crediton's
downfall.
Leading Crediton at the plate were
Tammy Regier and Deb Lord with a
double and single apiece. Brenda
Morgan and Fay Schenk had two hits
apiece and adding single hits were
Teresa VanRaay and Lori
Devlaeminck.
In the last game of the year, errors,
nerves and well frit balls by the oppos-
ing team caused the early finish of the
Crediton team.
Leading Crediton at the plate were
Debbie Lord and Brenda Morgan with
three hits apiece. Teresa VanRaay
and Kate Steeper had two hits and
Humility is a strange thing. The
minute you're sure you have it, you've
lost it.
