Carpentry - Drywall Renovations Custom Homes ID CONTRACTING 235-0941 "Quality Workmanship at a Reasonable Price" league tourney Sir: Re the article "Resort Council plans attack on Beach Glass" in your August 6 issue, in which you describe the concern of Bruce Helm of the Beach Patrol in Grad Bend with the large number of serious cuts receiv- ed by the public from broken bottles. One must ask how long before so- meone is very seriously injured or bleeds to death from one of these cuts? Then you go on with the complaints of residents with 30 or more weekend tenants in one run down cottage par- tying all weekend and the inability of charges being lain because the oc- cupants do not have I.D. cards and without one, cannot be charged. This despite the fact that it took a dozen police from other duties to go through this exercise in futility. Finally the taxpayers must be hap- py to learn that their pretty new beach cleaner that cost $45,000 to buy and $10,000 a year to operate is not able to be used effectively because it has to dodge around the people sleep- ing on the beach. One must surely ask why, in a municipality that once was known as having the finest beach on the Great Lakes, it is now hazardous to use the beach because of broken bottle? Why are the taxpaying residents (which taxes are among the highest in the province) willing to put up with the noise, the filth, the drinking and the hundred other problems? Why do the elected officials, instead of passing more unenforceful bylaws not do something to correct the situation? The answer to this is, that nobody really wanth to do anything with a hue A.
