from trip to Africa
By MRS. IRVIN RA08R
A one-way KLM ticket brought
Eleanor Salmon out of Africa and
back to the village of Dashwood July
22. Eleanor has returned to take up
residence in Canada after spending
two years as a CUSO volunteer in
Nigeria in West Africa. She worked
for the Kaduna State Ministry of
Education as a form Five English
teacher at Women Teachers' College
in Zonkwa, Kaduna State.
Eleanor learned and experienced a
great deal during her residence in
northern Nigeria. The land is untam-
ed, harsh and beautiful. The cultures
of the various tribes she encountered
are fascinating. Many people there
will remain long in Eleanor's heart
and memory. For this reason it was
difficult to leave Nigeria. never-
theless she is back in her homeland
reaquainting herself with its well -
remembered culture.
Eleanor plans to return to the Cen-
tre for Religious Studies at the
University of Toronto in September
where she will continue studies she
began before her sojourn in Africa.
