A Tiger visit _
Received a call this week from Lee Paul of Kirkton. When Lee
calls it's usually about the Kirkton Garden Party, horse racing or
to reminisce about the good old days of baseball.
The Paul Brothers and Shirley were in Frankenmuth,
Michigan laseweek to entertain visitors to that popular town with
21 shows. One of their routines they do concerns baseball. This time
the skit was about the Tigers.
Shortly after the show there was a knock at the Paul's dress-
ing room door and there was a former Tiger Charley Gehringer
to say he enjoyed the show. Charley was the star second baseman
with the Tigers of the 1930's. He is now 82 years of age.
On the racing scene, Lee is continuing in his third year as the

Old Timers play Saturday
An interesting exhibition game will be played this Sunda, July
6 at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto preceding the regular Jays con-
test with the California Angels.
The special game will pit the Blue Jays oldtimers represen-
ting the first 10 years of their history and a squad of former major
leaguers. It begins at 1:35 p.m: with the regular game set back
to 3:05 p.m,
Jays back for the game will include Bob Bailor, Sam Ewing,
RWn Fairly, John Mayberry, Roy Howell, Otto Velez, Rico Carty,
R#ek Bossetti, Dave Lemanczyk, Tom Underwood, Doug Ault, J.J`,.
Cannon, Hector Torres; Mike Willis, Jesse Jefferson, Bator Moore
and Tom Blakey.

ly Gully Sunday, June 29. The track
was in excellent condition for the On-
tario Ili -Point race. The top senior
and•expert riders from both the pro-
vincial and national ranks competed
for precious points that go towarfi he

A special section was added to H I-
ly Gully's motocross track to make it
more similar to an European stele
track with more grassy terrain.
Brian 13lackburn of Exeter finish-
ed sixth overall in the 250 Senior class.

Ladies golf
Members of .the Exeter Golf and
Country Club entertained Seaforth
and Ironwood ladies on June 24. The
evening was sunny but cool and most
of the girls played nine holes of golf.
This was followed. by a pot luck sup-
per with delicio>)ts bpt cassegroles,:
salads, jellies and a variety of fatten-
- ing desserts.
Everyone attending received a
prize that members and local
businesses had donated. A social hour
of cards ended an enjoyable evening.
Ladies best
in shuffling
The highest scores at this week's
shuffleboard competition at the South
Huron Rec Centre was recorded by
the ladies.
Mabel McKnight posted a score of
390 followed by Pearl McKnight at 350
and Lillian Pym 341.
Meine Elizenga's score of 346 was
best for the male shufflers. Next
came Albert Hummel) 336 and Allen
Johns 246.
PLAYGROUND BEGINS
It is time once again for the Exeter
playground to begin. It will be open
to all children between the ages of 4
and 14. Our supervisor for this sum-
mer is Susan Vanderspek. Our
leaders are Dianne Dearing, Shelley
Tomes, Christie 1veland and
Ronalynn Bell.
Registration will be on July 7 at the
South Huron Rec Centre from 1-3 p.m.
We have many exciting things
planned so it should bb a great sum-
