Shown preparing some of the edible goodies are Sharon and Chrissy O'Toole. Usborne Central wrap-up June 6, Usborne Central had a 60's day. Each grade dressed up in 60's clothes. There was a variety of weird and very unusual clothing. Just think, in 20 years we could actually have an 80s day! At noon the senior grades had a 60's dance and later everyone got to observe all the outfits. I'm sure that everyone in our school enjoyed this weird and wonderful day. Peter McAllister Write! Write! Write! June 11, Usborne Central had their Author's Day. Half of the groups of students went into the gym while the other half went into the classrooms. The people in the gym answered a sheet of questions about the author's whose pictures and information were stuck up on the walls. The people in the classrooms read their own books to the rest of the group. It was a fun ' day and there were lots of interesting stories. Darryl Hern Track and Field June 13 Usborne and five other schools had their track meet in Ex- eter. A few of the events taking place at the high school were ball throw, high jump, standing long jump, and running long jump. It was cancelled on Thursday so took place on Friday. Entrants from our school represented us very well. Joanne Kerslake Playday June 13, grades one and two had their playday. In the morning they played games such as "Doggy Get the Bone", "Soccer Dribble", "Bean Bag Toss" and others. At noon they took their lunch and walked to the Mor- rison Dam. After eating their lunch under the pavilion, they went on the nature trail. They found it very in- teresting and fun. Grand Slam! June 20, Usborne School had a baseball game with the teachers against the grade eights. For the first time in a long time, the grade eights won. The game was slowpitch. The entire school was there to watch the fun. The Last Week! During the last week of school, we had many exciting events. Tuesday night, the grade 8 students had their graduation at the Kirkton-Woodham Community Centre. A delicious din- ner, presentation of pins and diplomas, and speeches were enjoyed by all who attended. Good luck in grade 9, graduates. She started three years ago by attending a four week school course and works a five day week from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Her work averages 15 to 20 hours each week. Most of her work is with older folk or some disabled persons. They en- courage the people to work along with them and try to do work they aren't able to do. She had been going.to some homes for over two years. Records have to be kept of mileage and hours. This information is sent in- to head office. There are 100 homes being helped in the county. Anyone can get a homemaker. Olive Thomson thanked Frances and presented her with a gift. Fern Dougall conducted a quiz sing- song, Alma Et:.erington displayed several crafts. A reading and quiz was presented by Ila Moir, Margaret Strang extended 40th wedding an- niversary congratulations to Erlma and Milt Keller. Alma Etherington's group served a ''isty lunch. Trudy is a former graduate of U.W.O. where she received her B.A: Honours in English, and a former graduate of S.H.D.H.S., Exeter. BA GRADUATE — Jane Sims, daughter of Edna and Evan Sims, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Honours History on June 7 from Huron College. She plans to continue her studies in journalism at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute.
