Bob Tindall planned an "Open
House" for my 80th birthday on Satur-
day, June 14 at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Greenlee. Great grand-
daughters Debbie, Pamela and Kim
Greelee welcomed the guests and
had them sign the guest book; one
hundred and twenty-eight attended.
1 was seated in a decorated chair.
The table was decorated with a large
birthday cake and floral ar-
rangements, the girls took turns pour-
ing tea, Janett, Marguerite, Hazel
and Alexia, mygranddaughters serv-
ed refreshments to all. I received
many beautiful gifts and a purse of
mone from m family. M.P. Te
served to the immediate family.
Friends and relaUvea were present
from Shipka, London, Exeter, Cen-
tralia, Lucan, Tavistock.
-As a follow-up to the open house
Hugh and Hanel Davis entertained me
and my family to a reunion at their
home on Sunday afternoon when 43
members of the family enjoyed an
afternoon swim and a picnic dinner.
All were present except Jim and
Florence Young of Lucan and Nancy
and Ronald Cunningham, April and
Tom, Mar, Ont.

One of our members, Mrs. Elson
Lynn told of her trip to the world's
ploughing match and to Expo '86. The
weather was perfect and the trip very
enjoyable. Mrs. Fletcher read an ar-
ticle "Women vs Men" and Mrs.
Coward responded with "Something
wonky about Women."
Roll call was answered by "A
resolution on some `beef' you have."
The sweaters for the ball team were
on display and will be presented to the
team in the near future. Mrs. Ivan
Brock reported on the district annual
held in Grand Bend last month and
the fair display for Zurich and Exeter.
Mrs. Freeman Horne reported on the
Huron County Historic Society held in
Varna recently.
The next meeting will be held on
Monday, July 14 at 7 o'clock. The
members will travel to the Thames
Road ball diamond to see the ball
team the sweaters were presented to.
A tour of a local industry is in the
planning stage and will follow. The
members will then return to Ruth

Robert Pym, the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Brian Pym was baptized by Rev.
Robert Matheson.
Several from the community at-
tended the Sunday School anniver-
sary at Thames Road on Sunday.
Elimville Sunday School anniver-
sary will be Sunday June 22 at 11
o'clock. Rev. Cheryl -Ann
Stadelbauer-Sampa will be the guest
preacher.
UCW Meet
The Elimville United Church
Women met recently at the church.
This meeting was a fun night. Mrs.
Emerson Penhale welcomed
everyone to the meeting. Mrs. Jim
Wilkinson read a poem by Pauline
Johnson, an Indian poetess entitled
"Shandon River".
Mrs. Penhale demonstrated mak-
ing baskets and also talked about the
history of baskets and the Indians.
A game of Trivia Pursuit followed
with the topics being "Indians",
"Women of the Bible", and "Usborne
Township". This proved to be very in-
formative as well as fun.
The president, Mrs. Floyd Cooper
opened the business with meditation.
Roll call was answered by "Name an
Indian Craft". Mrs. Ross Skinner
reported on the executive meeting for
the District. The fall regional will be
September 29 at 6:30 at- Crediton.
Mrs. Philip Johns reported on the
London Conference in Sarnia which
she and her husband and Mr. and
Mrs. Howard Pym had attended
recently.
Lorne Thrower, who had preached
in this charge recently, was ordain-
ed there. They were able to visit a
short time with Lorne and his wife
Joan. A social time followed the
business.
Hear about baskets
The Elimville Women's Institute
met recently at the Elimville church.
The resolutions committee of Mrs.
Dan Coward and Mrs. Ron Fletcher
were in charge of the program. Mrs.
Coward opened the meeting with a
poem "Humor". Mrs. Fletcher read
a humorous story "The annual track
to the berry patch": Mrs. Coward
commented on themotto"Ideas are

The Board of Managers meeting
was held on Thursday evening at the
home of Hugh and Hazel Davis of St.
Patrick's church. Rev. and Mrs. Der-
rick and family were inner guests
before the meeting.
Several members of t. Patrick's
church attended anniversary service
at St. Thomas Church Granton Sun-
' day morning. Rev. Peter Derrick was
in charge. Service next Sunday is
planned for eleveno'clock.
ACW Meet
On Tuesday afternoon Mary Jef-
feries gave her home for the June
ACW meeting. There were eight
members present, Nadine Bedell
acted in the absence of president Rose
Cunningham.
The service opened with the
members prayer, the scripture and
meditation from theLiving Message.
Plans were made for a banquet
Thursday, June 19 at the Centralia
School.
The hostess served a delicious
lunch and the ladies enjoyed a social
hour. .
