Shriners,Scatcherd
The Oakwood golf club at Grand Bend will be the site for two
very popular and special golf tournaments in the next couple of
weeks and both have been providing monies for good causes.
We are talking'of the Bluewater Shrine Club benefit tourna-
ment and the Dave Scatcherd Classic.
The Scatcherd tourney is scheduled for Friday and Saturday,
June 13 and 14 and the following Wednesday, June 18 the Shriners
will be participating in their annual event.
Earl Long dropped in this week to give us all the pertinent in-
formation on the Shriners tourney and he stressed the point that
98 percent of all money contributed to Shriners hospitals for crippl-
ed children is applied to patient care.
Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. on June 18 at Oakwood with
the first of shotgun teeoffs slated for one hour later.
Tickets to compete are $100 per person. This figure includes
green fees, dinner, prizes, etc. and a portion of the fee is eligible
for income tax purposes.
Anyone wishing to get further information should give Earl
Long a call at 235-2484.
The Dave Scatcherd Classic is equally as important as all
monies raised here go to the Scatcherd Children's Centre in Lon-
don. This year it has been changed from a one day Wednesday
event to two days on Friday and Saturday.
Heading the list of celebrities to the Scatcherd Classic are
former Edmonton Eskimo Normie Kwong and current hockey star
Paul Coffey of the Edmonton Oilers.
Both of these events are worthy of your attention and anyone

after seeing bow quickly she went through the log, the handicap
was erased for the second cut and she won again.
Maybe it was fortunate for the record of the county that Ex-
eter mayor Bruce Shaw decided not to compete. Before we raise
the mayor's ire we should mention that he was very prominent in
the Exeter Town Criers winning the fitness contest at the Rec Cen-
tre, Thursday night.
Shaw's agility with the skipping rope was the deciding factor
in his team winning over Usborne, the only other municipality that •
was represented.
- wishing to'bave a couple of days good golfing fun, meet a lot of
interesting people and contribute to a worthy cause would be more
than welcome to participate. The phone number at the Oakwood
Inn is 238-2324.

time to put your talents on the line. -
Among the 25 contestants were only three from the county of
Huron. You guessed correctly. The three from Huron finished one-
two -three. Itt's appropriate that Warden Leona Armstrong should
be the winner. Stephen township reeve Tom Tomes was second and
next came Usborne reeve Gerry Prout.
The usual crosscut saw was replaced by a chain saw for' the
event when the first mentioned farm tool was not properly set, It
was the first time Mrs. Armstrong had handled a chain saw.
For the first cut she was given a three second handicap, but,
Trivia answers
Here are the answers to last week!s trivia:

first even time at bat was Bobby Bonds on June 25, 1968.
Brian Trottier of the New York Islanders scored a goal at five

This week's questions are:
