on Thursday
Plans for the upcoming meeting to
discuss financing area recreation are
firming up. The meeting is set for
June 27 at 7:3(1 at the South Huron
Recreation Centre in Exeter. it will
he a follow-up to the meeting held in
Hensall March 30.
The two speakers will be Rennie
Alexander and Ken Campbell. Alex-
ander is the recreation director in
Wingham, and will be speaking on the
subject of surcharges versus user pay
arrangements. Ken Campbell is on
the Sealorlh and District community
Centre Board, and will be discussing
joint agreements.
The latter part of the meeting will
be devoted to discussion groups to
consider how best to resolve the pro-
blems of paying for recreation
facilities in South Huron.
The meeting is being organized by
Carolyn Merner, and by Melanie
McLaughlin of the Ministry of
Tourism and Recreation. McLaughlin
said she is "hoping we can keep a lid
on accusations and make it a positive
problem -solving time". She added
that. "i think the people of South
Huron are ready to resolve this.' but
said that she "doesn't think it will he
resolved in one meeting."
At least one representative from
each area council will attend
