Soccer teams win seven
In squirt action this week, Exeter
1II downed Exeter I by a score of 5-1
taking advantage of some fast breaks
to score. Marty DeBruyn led the win-
ners with a four goal effort whileJulia
Brand booted a single.
The Exeter I goal scorer was David
Farquhar. Also turning in.superb ef-
forts for the losers were Jeff Sararas
and Michael Heywood.
Exeter Ir won : their second con-
secutive game by virtue of a 1-0 win
over Arva. It was a close game with
both teams creating chances, but, on-
ly Chris McDonald was able to score.
En atom play Jamie Van Dam
scored a pair of goals to lead Exeter
II to a 6-0 victory over Grand Bend.

Hines. Ken Hines, Gavin Snell and
Lawn bowlers
enjoy jitneys
Members of the Exeter lawn bowl-
ing club participated in local jitneys
Thursday and Saturday evenings of
this week.
Grace Cooper recorded a pair of
victories and a score of 26 to take
Thursday's competition. Next came
Bill Rogerson 24, Gertrude Hamilton
23 and Emma Campbell 21.
Saturday night's champion was
Percy Campbell with an aggregate of
28 and plus of one to go with double
wins.
Charles Bendy and Isabel McKay
were deadlocked in second place with
27 aggregates and plus of one. Follow-
ing were John Eberle, Gertrude
Hamilton and Emma Campbell.

Inan excellently played game, Ex-
eter III and Lucan played to a 2-2 tie.
Dan Martens notched the first Exeter
score and after Lucan scored twice
Jan Martens was successfulron a pass
from Sivichay Sengkhounmany. The
Exeter III club remains unbeaten this
season with two wins and two ties.
In mosquito play, Exeter I edged
Lucan 3-2. Shawn McFalls led the ,
winners with a two goal effort- Geoff
Sanders scored the first goal in the
first half and the played an excellent
game in goal in the second half.
Exeter III travelled in Ilderton and
although dominating play in the first
half didn't get the only goal of the
game until the final five minutes
when Amanda Houston got the ball
through to Sivilay Sengkhounmany
for a successful shot. Playing ex-
cellent games for Exeter were Mark
Lynn and Jason Coolman.
In pee wee action, Exeter I con-
tinued to improve scoring a 4-0 win
over previously unbeaten Nairn,
Chris Eccles scored two goals for the
winners, one on a rebound from a
penalty shot. Also scoring were
Yousef Osman on a deflection and
Todd McCann on a shot from well out.
Exeter II kept their unbeaten
streak intact by crushing Grand Bend
13-0. Greg Lamport was the leading
scorer with an output of three. Frank
Wulterkens, Henri DeBruyn and
Justin O'Rourke each kicked two
goals and Jason McFalls, David
Josephson and Dan McCarter scored
singles.
The Exeter bantams travelled to St.
Thomas made up for some of the one -
ATV action back
to Hully Gully
ATV action returned to Bully Gul-
ly this weekend with riders competing
from all across Ontario.
Even though riding conditions were
greasy in the morning due to wet
weather, the afternoon program turn-
ed into topcafibre racing. With warm,
sunny weather later on, spectators
came out to cheer on their local
riders.
In the 200 Solid Class the Parkhill
riders took home the top three
trophies. The action -packed 250 Stock
Class saw riders from Delhi,
Blenheim. Ingersoll, and Clinton bat-
tle it out for the full 10 laps. However.
Allan Dierick from Delhi came out on
top with Paul Fenton of Blenheim
finishing close behind.
Local rider, Byron Boyes, from
Clinton captured 4th place. The 250
Modified Class saw another local
rider, Chuck Collins. of Varna win the
first moto but due to mechanical pro -

blems in the 2nd moto, he had to set-
tle for 4th overall. Paul Farquhar
from Clinton took home the cash in
the 200 Modified Class with a 2nd in
the first moto and a 1st in the second
moto to finish on top in front of Devin
Williamson from Camlachie.
The next ATV race will be held Sun-
day. June 30 at the Brigden
Fairgrounds. Racing gels underway
at 2:00 p.m. with racing teams from
both Ontario and the United States
competing for a $I.000 purse.

All in all it was a good week for the
Exeter teams with seven wins in 10
games.

Cowgirls get
split in four
The Crediton Cowgirls ladies
fastball team ended up with an even
split of wins and losses in their last
four games.
The ladies were defeated by
Strathroy 9-6 and by Parkhill 13-12 but
were on the winning side against
Poplar Hill 1318 and Ailsa Craig 20-3.
The ladies travel to Poplar Hill on
Thursday night and hope to
reschedule a rained out game Mon-
day night at home.
In their loss to Strathroy the
Crediton squad had a bad second in-
ning which allowed five Strathroy
players to cross the plate.
Leading Crediton at the plate was
Brenda -Wilds and Deb Lord with two
doubles apiece. Kelly Phillips, Kathy
Gielen and Tammy Regier added -two
hits apiece. Adding single hits were
Marilyn Smithers, Wendi Schwindt
and Sue Muller. -'
Brenda Wilds was the starting pit-
cher with relief from Deb Lord.
In their win against Poplar Hill the
Cowgirls had a 1-1 ball game until the
fourth inning when they rallied in ten
runs.
Leading Crediton at the plate was
Tammy Regier with two home runs.
Sue Muller added three hits one being
a home run and Lori Devlaeminck,
Pauline Brannon and Brenda Wilds
pounded out three hits apiece. Adding
single hits were Kate Steeper, Cecile
Muller, Karen Williams, Kelly
Phillips: Kathy Gielen, Wendi
Schwindt, Fay Schenk and Karen
Bowerman.
In (heir second win the Crediton
ladies defeated Ailsa Craig in five in-
nings by using every inning to bat in
runs.
Leading Crediton at the plate was
Marilyn Smithers with four single
hits. Karen Bowerman and Deb Lord
added three hits apiece and double
hits were pounded out by Karen
Williams. Kelly Phillips and Kate
Steeper. Adding single hits were Lori

Royals up record
to nine victories
The Exeter Royals improved their
season record to 9 wins and one loss
last Thursday as they defeated Lucan
White Sox 12 to 6.
The Royals opened the scoring in
the first inning as John Kernick hit a
one out single. Ile was forced at se-
cond base by Barry Baynham who
then stored on a triple by catcher
Randy Kraut.
The White Sox tied the score in the
top of the third on a solo home run by
P. Medd. The Royals struck back in
the bottom half of the inning as they
scored five runs on five hits, an error
and two wild pitches. John Kernick
led off the inning by reaching on an
error and he later scored on a wild
pitch. Paul McKnight then singled
and scored on a Mike Desjardine
triple.
Gary Skinner drove in a run with a
double and scored on a single by Jeff
Lindenfield. The Royals added
another run and led at the end of three
by a score of 6 - 1. They increased
their lead to 8-1 in the fourth as
Baynham singled and scored on a
double by Will Lamb. Mike Desjar-
dine then drove in Lamb.with a single.
The White Sox added two runs in
the fifth inning .on three hits and the
Royals responded by scoring 4 more
runs in their half of the inning.

worked six innings. allowing 4 runs on
4 hits. He struck out three and walk-

over the past weekend. In their open-
ing game, they defeated London
Knights of Columbus three - zero as
Brian Hodgins tossed a two -hitter.
Sunday, they were soundly defeated 8
to 0 by a strong squad from Chatham.
Their next action will be at home
Thursday night against league -
leading Lucan Irish who currently
sport an even and one record. A win
by the Irish would go a long way
toward ensuring their second regular
season championship in three years.

beat the winless Albatross Angels
12-11.
J. J's are still looking for their first
win of the season having lost• to the
Sundowners 16-10.

Tuesday, the Ironwood men's golf
club enjoyed the annual Jerry
MacLean and Son special occasion
night.
In "A" flight, low gross honours
were captured by Stu Homuth with a
35 followed by Wayne Parsons with a
37. Don Cowan's score of 33 topped
"A" flight net, one stroke ahead of
Gabby Mol's 34.
"B" flight was won by Mark
Cronyn with a gross tally of 40 two
strokes over Al Taylor and Brian
Brooks both with a 42. Brooks
however captured the division low net
with a 32. Dan Brintnell was runner
up carding a 35. -
A close race developed in "C" fight
finishing with Jim Campbell's 41. a
mere one stroke better than sponsor
Gerry MacLean's 42. Net winner was
Arnold !Slathers with a 32 followed by
Percy Knee, Lee Webber and Bill
Gilfillan, all in at 34.
,another three way deadlock arose
in "D" flight with Larry Taylor win-
ning nut with his score of 46 over
Norm Whiting and Roy Hunter on a
countback. Low net was captured by
Roy Hunter's 30 followed by John
Gray with a 33.
Larry Taylor and Randy Gillian
won the closest to the hole contests on
numbers seven and nine.
Ladies golf
Shirley Davidson and Beryl Elgie
won low score honours in this week's
ladies two -ball foursome at the Ex-
eter Golf and Country club.
Eileen Rannie and Peggy Ferguson
required the least number of putts
and Shirley Davidson had the longest
drive.
