Rev. Robert Matheson was in
charge of the regular church service
on Sunday morning. He told the
children a story entitled "What Is The
Gospel?" The choir sang an anthem
"Living For Others" accompanied by
the organist Miss Agnes Bray.
The Scripture Lesson was read
from Acts 1: 15-26. 1 John 5:9-13, John
17: 11 6-19. The sermon was entitled
"Prayer For A People." Rev.
Matheson asked."How do we discern
the difference between our own deci-
sions and those of God? How tell the
difference between decisions we wish
on God .from those he actually has
made?" '
The Apostles served as a bridge
between the living Jesus and the
ongoing mission of the Church.
Peter is seen here, for the first time,
as the leader of the Twelve.
The minister continued "A passage
in John looks forward to Pentecost
and the future -mission of the Church
and will here a reminder that next
Sunday we have a special 'Mission
Worship Service.

R.R. Grand Bend, Sunday. The occa-
sion was a smorgasbord dinner and
an open house for Mr. and Mrs. Brian
Thomson I nee Sandy Schlegel). They
are recent newlyweds. Mr. and Mrs.
Alex Rohde, Mitchell called on Bill
and Rhoda Sunday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bremner,
Brantford and Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Duncan returned home Monday even-
ing after attending the 75th Jubilee of
the forming of the Canadian Navy at
Winnipeg. They also visited with
friends and relatives in Winnipeg,
Saskatchewan and Alberta. They
were away for two weeks.

trip from the first of September until

The May meeting of the Clandeboye
Women's Institute was held at the
home of Mrs. Arnold Blake. The pro-
gram was the "Grandmother's
Meeting" and conveners Hazel Cun-
ningham had several interesting as
well as humorous readings entitled
"Grandmother Rosa comes to
Canada from Greece", "Grandma
Speaks Out", "Grandma is off her
Rocker" and "What is it like to be
old?•' Eleven members answered the
roll call, "A Happy Memory of a Time
I Spent with my Grandmother."
During the business, delegates
were chosen to attend the District An-
nual on May 23. Thank you notes were
read from "Ilelping Hands" in Lucari
and War Memorial Children's
Hospital. London, for donations
received.
Each member brought a jar of jam
for the Erland Lee Homestead Coun-
try Store. Plans were discussed for a
community bridal shower for Marilyn
Groenewegen on June 5 at 8:15 p.m.
to be held at St. Jaynes urcti. Plans
for the W.I.June meting were
discussed with probabi ties of lunch
out, followed by a tour. Lunch was
served by conveners Eleanor Kestle
and Mary Scott, assisted by the
hostess.

B.C. is staying with V ola Carter
while visiting her mothe hfrs. Myr-
tle Brownlee, a patient at Qraigholme
Nursing [tome. Mary Jane's brother
John Brownlee and his wire Pat of
Gravenhurst, joined them \on the
weekend.
Al and Winnie Rohicheau went by
air to the Maritimes for the holiday
week end to vist Al's mother, who is
very ill. ,
