ladies entertain girls

Zion Lutheran Ladies aid held their
Mother and Daughter banquet May 12
with 21 members and 70 guests pre-
sent. Convener Mrs Nancy Rader
presented corsages to the honorary
Mentters and the executive. A new
member. Mrs Joe Bruce was
welcomed. ['lams donated by Mrs.
Adelma Me!lecke were given as
prizes
Robin Krait gave the toast to the
mother's and Nancy Rader the toast
to the daughters. Mrs. Florence
Marten zinc] 1lrs. Harry I layter sang
"A Prayer tor 'Bothers.".
'l'fhe Altar Guild reported 13 visits.

A film was shown "A Day in the
Life of Bonnie Console". It was about
a very courageous lady, married with
a faintly, and how she copes with no
arms. but uses her feet. The Ladies
Aid have the birthday party at the
Blue Water Rest Home, Julie 11.

Lutheran church by Rev. M
Mellecke. sponsor was Sandra Stire.
Dashwood U('%V entertained guests
from Crediton and Zurich for the May
14 meeting. Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan and
her group prepared and -presented the
program for the evening. Mrs-. Don.
Gaiser warmly welcomed members
and guest.
A call to worship was given by Mrs.
Clayton Merner and 1lrs. Gaiser.,
Prayer was offered followed by the
hymn "Make Me a Captive. I.Ord".
Mrs. Merrier read the Scripture
lesson Matthew 28. verses 16-20 and
Luke 1(i• verse 14.
Miss Idella Gabel favored with a
piano selection "In a Monastery
Garden.'. A reading "Reflections"
was shared -with the group by Mrs.
Margaret Carroll. Mrs. Don Weigand
accompanied by her mother, Mrs.
Irene Kennedy sang a beautiful sdlo

Mrs. Gaiser introduced the guest
speaker. Mrs. Lloy Grosse. who
recently returned home from • Gar -
ba 'Pula.' a remote Village in Kenya
where she, her husband and children
spent two and one-half years. They
lived on a school compound and were
part of a teaching staff for 350
students.
The national language is Keswahili
and is spoken by 50 different tribes
that live there. Mrs. Gaiser express-
ed appreciation to Mrs. Grosse for
sharing her experiences in film and
commentary.. The collection taken
will be sent to Kenya. Mrs. Grosse is
the daughter of Mrs. Edighoft'er of
Mitchell.
The meeting closed with (he sing-
ing of "Happy the Horne", followed by
lunch.
1)ashwood Seniors
• Dashwood Seniors held their May
meeting with 29 members present. An
invitation to Huronview for July :3
was accepted. Mrs. Ross Love an--
nounced a bus trip to the Zoo in Toron-
to. June 27.
June 10 will be the last meeting
beore the summer and will be a pic-
nic -at 6 p.m. Two films were shown
Laurel and Hardy and Beauty.

The Citizenship and World Affairs
group with conveners, Mrs. Eben
Weigand and Mrs. Emil Becker was
in charge of the Grandmother's
meeting for May. Fourteen members
and 22 guests sat down to a delicious
pot luck dinner. President, Mts. Emil
Becker welcomed everyone and read
a poem on "Mothers and Grand-
mothers". Mrs. Eben Weigand gave
two readings. "What • is a Grand-
mother" and "A Mother".
Current events around our com-
munity were given. Mr. Risi from the
Blue Water Rest Home showed slides
Cyt Switzerland.' Mary Rader was
made a member of the Historical
Society. An emergency resolution
from St. Paul's Institute was read. A
donation was made to Dashwood and
Area Business Association. A contest
was started to get new members.
Thursday evening 11 members at-
tended the District Annual at Usborne
school with Elimville W.I. in charge.
Mrs. Eben Weigand and Mrs. Emil
Becker conducted the In Memoriam
and Mrs. Jean Weigand accompanied
by her 'mother Mrs. Kennedy of
Grand Rend sang "The Rose".
Personals
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Weber with Mr
and Mrs. Gordon Eagleson of
Southampton have recently returned
home from an extended trip to
England and Scotland where they
visited Gary and Marilyn Eagleson
and children. Gary is on a teacher ex-
change in England.
They toured from the far north in
Scotland to the very south end of
England and spent five days in Lon-
don and nine days touring Europe.
visiting Holland, Belgium, France.
Germany. Luxemburg and Berne.
Switzerland. It was all very beautiful.
They spent two nights at Paris, then
back to London and home direct from
London to Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Miller and girls.
Zion, were'Sunday visitors with Mary
Rader.

.1 returned home May 15 after a
three week visit with Bill and Sharon
Bennett, Nathan and Sarah Kristina
at Lethbridge, Alberta. Sunday April
28 we ate lunch up in the mountains
surrounded by three feet of snow. M
Crowsnest Pass we saw the Frank
slide where on April 29, 1903, a portion
of Turtle Mountain fell, burying a por-
tion.of the residential district and bet-
ween 66 and 86 sleeping persons.
We attended Christ Trinity
Lutheran church two Sundays where
Rev. H. W. Martin baptized Sarah.

announced almost one year ago for Roman Catholic Separate Secondary
Schools. •

constitutional before the government proceeds
No party has a mandate to proceed with implementing extended school
funding for Roman Catholic Separate Secondary Schools. That was the
message that was sent through the ballot box on May 2nd, 1985.
