Lions 50/50 draw won; Flaxbards celebrate fortieth anniversary
At the last Lions Club meeting on
May 6 al the Dominion Tavern, 17
nwintxrs answered the roll call with
five visitors from the Atwood club.
Reports were given on the 40th an-
niversary and the Easter Seals and
Cancer Drive Campaigns.

loth anniversary
A lovely loth wedding anniversary
party was held in honor of Earl and
Anne Flaxbard at the !lay Township
hall on Sunday. May 19. It was given
by their children Gary and Betty
Flaxba rd. Paul and Cathy Flaxbard,
Shirley and Koss Cooper and Ruth -
Ann Flaxbard.
The hall vas beautifully decorated
for the occasion. Many friends and
relatives came to the open house in
the afternoon to extend their best
wishes to the.well-liked and popular
couple with people coming from such
places as London. Listowel, Fergus,
Goderich, Stratford, 'Toronto, Inger-
soll and Kitchener as well as the
Zurich area.
Following this a delicious roast beef
dinner was enjoyed by 29 at the Domi-
tli0n 'Tavern.
Several lovely gifts were opened
later.

Grade 2 and :f students at Ecole Ste.
Marie have just received their sacra-
ment of reconciliation. The Grade 2
pupils will receive their first commu-
nion this Sunday at St. Peter's with
Father Bensette.
Card Party
The Card Party Ladies met recent-
ly at Gertie Fleischauer's home to
help celebrate Eileen Consitt and Ina
Neeb's birthdays. Games of euchre
were enjoyed followed by birthday
cake .and ice cream.
Golden Agers
Zurich Golden Agers met Monday
evening May 13 at the town hall.
Branch Manager Kon Davis and his
assistant Sally Desjardine of the Bank
of Montreal gave an informative ad-
- dress on general banking principles.
President Gen Doyle opened the
meeting. Secretary Verda Baechler
and treasurer Beryl Hogg gave their
reports. Twenty-three were in atten-
dance including two visitors.
Happy birthday was sung for
Eileen Consitt and ina Neeb. Annie'
Finkbeiner and ina Neeb were ap-
pointed as delegates to the U.S.C.O.
convention in Kingston August 14 and
15. A delicious lunch was served by
the May group.
The Golden Agers are invited to
Ilur•onview.June 26 for a noon dinner,
which will be followed by afternoon
entertainment.
Family Barbecue
The annual family get-together to
barbecue• was held on Sunday over the
holiday weekend at the home of Mr.
and Mrs Kay McKinnon for their
family.

Fishing trip
A group of 11 from the area spent
the Victoria weekend up north near
Parry Sound ftom Friday to Monday
doing some fishing. Among them
were a tour -generation family of Mr
Lloyd O'Brien with his sou Eugene
and grandson Roger (Brien. and lit -
tie :t year-old greatgrandson Atom
Regier whose father Ken was also
along on the fishing trip.

Dorcas (;ingerieh. daughter of
1.cwis :)rid Alarlene of Zurich has suc-
cessfully completed the course for
Nursing Assistants. ('allege of Nurses
nt Ontario. on May 17 al Wingha
and 1)istr•ict Hospital. A graduation
fellowship evening was held al Zurich
Mennonite fellowship hall with
friends and relatives from Seaford'.

Ross and Marg Johnston and Tom
and Doris Ellerington of Exeter have
returned home from the west coast
and visiting with their sister and hus-
band Harry and Edna Penhale of
Parksville and niece Marilyn Paquin.
Nanaimo and Douglas Penhale of Salt
Spring Island. While staying in Vic-
toria and Vancouver they saw such
places of interest as Museums, Queen
Elizabeth and Stanley Park. With all
the beautiful flowers the scenic tours
were wonderful.
They also visited with DorothN
Koehler's nephews Clyde and Thelma
and Jack and Peggy Worsen of White
Rock and Coquitlam.
A bus load of 14 senior citizens from
Goderich, Clinton and Zurich enjoyed
a trip to the Cullen's Country Barns
at Markham near Toronto last
Wednesday and the 'lumber Nurser'
in Bramalea. The group stopped en
the way home for supper in Kitchener
at the Conestoga Inn.
