One side is used for full fingerprints
of all ten digits. and the other contains
a clear, black and white photograph
of the child. plus a detailed physical
description. The card is returned to
the parent after it is filled out.
if a child disappears. police can be
provided with a fast. exact descrip-
tion. The black and white photo and
the fingerprints come through clear-'
ly if the card is photocopied for
distribution to law enforcement agen-
cies and the media.
• '1''he identification program has
spread to 19 other Clubs across On-
tario, Palmer said. London Civitan
has filled out 7.010 cards. and the total
across the province is now 65,000.
The Clubs charge a nominal fee of
$1 to prevent frivolous use of Mt ser-
• vice. This does not cover the actual
cost of $1 67 per card.
Palmer cautioned - that parents
should make sure they are getting
something useful. As an example, he
saidsome food chains provided iden-
tity canis as part of a promotion. but
the fingerprints were useless Mack
blobs.

a child will not save that child's lite.
hut may make it easier to find him".

melded into one. and age eligibility is
now from 12 to 21.
