Livestock
grade fees
established
Agriculture MinisterJohn Wise has
announced new fees for livestock
grading provided by his department.,
"These tees were established after
extensive consultation with the Cana-
dian meat and livestock industry.••
Mr. Wise said.
The federal minister has been
negotiating with various commodity
groups since Agriculture Canada pro-
posed new charges for a number of its
services under the government's cost
recovery program.
"I've said from the beginning tl)al
I thought a mutually'satisfactory set-
tlement was possible. We've definite-
ly achieved that in the livestock
grading area," Mr. Wise said.
Under the new fee schedule. meat
packers will be charged for each car-
cass graded by >agricultur Canada
staff. The fee will he 20 c' ts a car-
cass for noes

fees, which were originally proposed.
