Have students, need jobs
Studnt employment open in Exeter
Summer is almost here again. and
area students are searching for jobs.
The Canada Employment ('entre in
Exeter is ready for summer. The of-
fice is now open and eager to help
students find summer employment
and to meet employer needs in the
community as well.
This summer Judy Carter, of Clin-
ton, will be acting as the Student
Placement Officer for the Exeter cen-
tre. She is a recent graduate of the
University of Western Ontario who
will be attending Althouse Teacher's
College in September.
Each summer the Canada Employ-
ment ('entre for Students assists local
high school and post -secondary school
students in finding summer employ-
ment. The Centre functions to refer
qualified students to employment
vacancies which area employers
have reported.
This summer there are many op-
portunities for students in various
employment fields. Such government
programs as the Student Venture
Capital and the Ontario Youth
Employment Program are still
available. The Student Venture
Capital Program provides loans of up
to $2.000 for students wishing to start
their own summer businesses. The
Ontario Youth Program, which is
employer -oriented. offers $1.25 an

Mrs. Dennis Rowe was hostess for
a bridal shower for her niece Mary
Ellen Shore of London on Sunday
afternoon for the Skinner relatives.
Some 35 people attended. After the
shower the men arrived for a buffet
supper to celebrate Mother's Day for
Mrs. Ina Skinner of Exeter.
Church Service
Sunday May 5 was Bible Society
Sunday with Rev Robert Matheson in
charge. Ile told the children a story
entitled "Dabhar.•' The choir
rendered an anthem..
Sunday May 26 a Mission -Sunday
worship service will be held at
Thames -Road Church. There will be
no service at Elimville. June 2 the
U.C.W. will lead in worship at Elim-
ville. no service at Thames Road.

of work by accepting odd jobs. There
are always postions available for such
tasks as gardening, cleaning, pain-
ting, babysittting and so on. However,
many of these positions pay the
minimum wage
The Canada Employment Centre
for Students benefits not only the stu-
dent but the employer as well.
Employers may call in with a job
position they want filled. Qualified
students are then referred to them.
This service is efficient and time-
saving for the employer and is also
free.
Post secondary as well as secon-
dary students have been registering
at the Centre for the past several
weeks. There are now a large number
of eager, enthusiastic students on_file.
willing to do any type of work. If you
require additional employees in your
business. or wish to have some -extra
help around your home. students are
ready, willing and able to go to work
for you.
Anyone interested in hiring a stu-
dent should call Judy at 235-1711.
Students may stop in at the office
located at :10 Main St. Exeter in order
to register for the summer ahead. The
hours are 8:15 to 4:30, Monday to Fri-
day. The Centre will be open until the
end of August.
