tism on Sunday morning at the United
Church. Betty Simmons greeted the
congregation and the ushers were
Wayne Corbett, Willner Ferguson,
Bill Fuss and Hans (:erstenkorn.
Mrs. McDonald spoke on the 23rd
Psalm which he said some people
dismiss as sentimental religion.
There are so manay who feel they are
living on such a high level material-
ly that they don't need God, even on
weekends or Sundays.
"But life isn't always buoyant like
that". he said. Ile spoke of a mother
who lost her baby and couldn't have
another. a small businessman who
sees himself cut off by the large shop-
ping mall down the highway. the
sicknesses. terminal and otherwise,
that corse to us and death of the ones
we love.
:'We are not- all so strong. so
cushioned so insured up to the hilt
that we have no worries at all. Just
look at peoples -faces today". he said,
"they are so lull of anxieties. fear and
'anger-.'
Ile then spoke of what the 23rd
Psalm and -the (;ood.:Shepherd can •
mean to us.
During the service the choir. with
Belva Fuss as organist. sang the very
lovely "My Lord is Waiting in The
Garden'• by Otis Gruber.
The flowers at the front of the
church were placed in loving memory
of Jean Smale by the. family.
The congregation was reminded
that next Sunday is Christ Family
Sunday. Mothers Day and anyone
wishing to place flowers in the church
in loving memory of their parents
should notify the church office this

Rebekahs plan
Noble Grand Eunice Aikenhead
presided for the meeting of Amber
Rebekah Lodge on Wednesday even-
ing assisted by Olga Chichase P.N.G.
in the absence of Lois Jones. Vice
Grand.
Plans were finalized for the Dessert
Euchre to be held 00 May 8 at 1:00
p.m. at the local hall. Everyone is
welcome.
Members are having table five at
the Arena on May 18 which will be
horse baking.
1).1).1). Kay Wise of Clinton will
make her official visit on May 15. Of-
ficers were nominated for the coming
year. A delicious lunch was served at
the close by the Committee.

Residents at Northcrest Home
welcome back Joe and Edna
McLellen. Joe undertt ent surgery at
Stratford and Edna spent a few weeks
with her daughter Lois in Kitchener.
The residents welcome Alnia Hor-
ton to Northcrest.
Residents enjoyed a delicious pot-
luck dinner on Thursday with 18
attending.
Olga and Erni Chipchase visited
their niece in University Ilospital and
were pleased to find her improved.

Mother's Day was the theme of Unit

4 of the. U.C.W. of Hensall United
Church. Nan Britton opened the
Meetingwith a poem
"Memories"followed by singing the
hymn "When Mother's of Salem."
Marv.Roobol continued with the devo-
tional reflecting on how Mary never
lost her'love and trust in Jesus, and
knew that with trust in God's love,
faithfulness that all things would
work out accordingly to His plan.
Mary closed with prayer.
Elva Forrest read a poem written
by an eight-year-old entitled "What a
Grandmother is", a child's insight
with a great deal of truth and humour.
The Roll Call was responded to by
19 members with 41 visits reported.
Treasurer Myrtle Sherrill reported
$372.55 to date.
Hilda Payne reported on the
Presbyterial in St. Marys. Bill Brady
was guest speaker. His topic
transplants and surgery, made
everone aware that their death can be
a gift of life. Of interest to the elder-
ly. the cornea from an older person
has proven to give best results.
Olga Chipchase gave the study on
Korea and reviewed the work of Jan
and Rowena Robb who have spent 25
years in Korea. Along with other mis-
sionairies, there has been progression
in agriculture• education and
Christianity.
With wonderful caring mis-
sionairies, the Church in Korea has
grown. The National Church of Korea
is now strong. When they require
assistance. they make their needs
known to the United Church of
Canada.
Nelly Riley received the offering
which was dedicated by Nan Britton.
followed by a hymn and prayer.
A tasty lunch was served by Isobel
Rogerson. Pearl McKnight and Pearl
Shaddick.

Sheila Reaburn presided at the
meeting of Hensall and area hor-
ticultural society held in Hensall
United Church Wednesday evening.
There were around 80 members and
38 guests present.
Speaker Barnard Hack Kincardine
was most interesting. He was in-
troduce by Jack Smith and thanked
by Betty Simmons.
Business followed and a plant auc-
tion when Rev. Stan McDonald was
.unanimously chosen for auctioneer.
There were eight draws made with
winning guests Isobel Hunt, Seaforth:
Olive Hodgins, Kirkton: Mrs. Davy
Rathwell• Brucefield: and Isobel
Michell. Bayfield. Members winning
draws were Reta Van Weiren, Mary
Brintnell, Bev Moir and Florence
Slade. Lunch was served.
Next meeting on September 11 will
be a plant auction.
Carmel Presbyterian
Rev. A.C. Young of Goderich con-
ducted worship in Carmel
Presbyterian Church on Sunday,
speaking on the subject "I Am Not
Ashamed." Mrs. Dorothy Taylor
presided at the organ.
Choir practice will be held on
Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.
The Anniversary Service will be
held on.Sunday June 2 when Rev. Lin-
da Brown of London will be guest
speaker. There will also be special
music.
