Kickers seek
play off spots
South Huron's senior soccer team
recorded another win this week while
their junior counterpart was defeated
in a game which is now under protest.
The senior Panthers handily
defeated Stratford Northwestern. Fri-
day, by a score 01 5-1. Joe Martens
and Al Pym led the South Ifuron scor-
ing attack with two goals each while
Scott Miller added the fifth goal.
The senior kickers dominated play.
working the give and go with perfec-
tion. The wyin unproved their record
on the season to 4-1-1 and greatly im-
proved chances at a play -oft position
In the junior match against Nor-
thwestern, the Panthers dropped a 3-2
decision. Steve Lingard and Sivlay
Senghountnany were the local goal
scorers.
The difference in the close junior
match turned out to be a goal that
was, according to the watch of coach
Bruce Eccles, scored in the 3611i
minute of a 35 minute first half.
The game official called the hall
immediately following the Stratford
goal and the Panthers launched a for-
mal protest regarding the goal in
question.
Both soccer teams are in action this
week, ending the regular season by
travelling to St. Marys today
Wednesday) and playing host to the
Godierch Vikings, Friday.
A win in either of the two matches
this week gaurantees the senior soc-
cer team of a berth in conference
semi-finals and the outcome of the
games determine home field advan-
tage for play-offs. Both inatches are
of utmost importance to the junior
squad who are still fighting for one of
the four play-off postions.
