successful
'Eating well and eating wisely is also
enjoyable, the women who completed
the six-week Culinary Hearts in the
Kitchen course held in South Huron
and District High School agreed dur-
ing the final session. All the women
Who attended the course said it had
changed their shopping habits.
- Now, instead of whipping quickly
through the aisles of their favourite
grocery stores, they stopped to read
labels. Was the tuna packed in oil or
water? Did the product contain a high
level of salt. perhaps -even sneaking
in disguised as a sodium component?
Did the label list a saturated oil like
palm or coconut, or was unsaturated
soybean or corn used''
(Inc lady confessed she was trying
to apply what she had learned in the
past six weeks, and when she broke
the rules, she at least felt guilty.
Another woman said she had a vital
interest in taking the course. She had
survived a heart attack a few years
previously, and did not want another.
One of the surprise hits, according
to instructor Deb Campbell. was the
enthusiasm for tofu. that versatile
soybean curd that can take on any
flavour. The course featured it in a
stuffed zucchini and a raspberry
pudding.
1n an area where prime Ixefis rais-
ed and sold, the fish night was not a
resounding success. Campbell
reported.
