'I'he Christian Education Commit-
tee of Varna United ('lurch has ar-
ranged some interesting activities for
Sunday School students this spring.
On May 211 they will have a field trip
to the Bannockburn Conservation
.\t•ea in place of regular classes, leav-
ing at 10:00 o'clock and ending with
a cook -out at lunch time. On June 23
a guest speaker ( likely a
veterinarian l will talk about baby
animals. This will be an OUI(10or•
-session.

At present Rev. Brown is preaching

"What Our Church Stands For'.
Shirley and Eric Luther will conduct
church services next Sunday while
Miss Brown is taking a course in
Toronto. Mildred McAsh and Erie will
play some organ -piano duets.

Granton WI holds annual meeting

Granton WI met at the home of
Mrs. Clare Bryan for the annual
meeting on Wednesday evening. A
tasty supper preceded the meeting.
The hostess was assisted by Mrs. Don
Roloston.
Mrs. Clarence Lewis presided and
opened the meeting, followed by a
reading by Mrs. Lewis "Fulfillment".
The roll call was the paying of fees
and a blues chaser reading.
The guest speaker was Mrs. Roger
Harmsworth, a seamstress at Strat-
ford Shakespearean Theatre, who
gave a very interesting account of her
duties and even brought some of the
costumes with her which some of us
were lucky enough to model.
As this was the annual meeting the
1985 slate of officers was installed by
honorary president Mrs. Eileen Sum-
mers. Officers as follows: honorary

Court Valentine L1861, Canadian
YOUNG WINNER — Kim Taylor,
the youngest prize winner at the
Varna dessert euchre and bake
sale, was delighted with her lit-
tle purse scissors.
Foresters spent a very enjoyable
"evening out" on Monday evening
April 15 at Heywood's Country
Restaurant. The dinner was gourmet
fare. Following the meal, a sing song
was enjoyed, led by Doris Spence with
her guitar.
On Saturday evening Court Valen-
tine members catered to the rabbit
breeders banquet at Kirkton-
Woodham community centre.

At Granton United Church, in the
absence of Rev. Bruce Pierce, who is
recovering from surgery, Wesley
Stanley of Lucan was in charge of the
morning worship on Sunday. The
speaker entitled his message "Faith
to live by. Failing is not all bad if we
can learn something from it".
At St. Thomas Anglican Church,
Rev. Peter Derrick was the celebrant
for the holy eucharist assisted by
John Herbert as server. The crucifer
