Focus
The
films on Parenting and Marriage was
shown Tuesday evening at Lucan
United Church. He dealth with the dif-
ferences in the way husbands and
wives view children and the sexual
relationship, and stressed the impor-
tance of understanding and accom-
modating one's partner's viewpoint.
lie dealt also with the influence of
financial difficulties in a marriage,
and of the need to put material things
in their proper place.
Barb Bannerman was hostess for
the evening. Those present enjoyed
coffee and a final discussion period
following the film.
Lucan Sundae Service
Bill and Barb Bannerman, assisted
by Dana and by Tim Carter, were
welcome committee for the morning
at Lucan United Church service on
Sunday. Freeda Melanson read the
Scripture lesson, and Jane Holden
told a story to the boys and girls about
Paula, who learned that God can
change our enemies into friends when
we pray for them and show love to
them. Barb Bannerman, along with
Jane and other helpers, took charge
of Junior Congregation.
Mr. Brown's theme was "'Phe Walk
of the Christian" as he continued his
on the Family studies in Ephesians. Chris
ja _Dobson -to avoid -the se p easing immorality
characteristic of Paul's day, and of
ours, and to walk in caring love
towards one another. They are to
walk in Light, drawing upon the
resources Christ offers to overcome
sin, and revealing the characteristics
of God through their lives. They are
to walk carefully, using time to the
best advantage, and following the
leading of the Holy Spirit. "Christians
have Light for a dark world," Mr.
Brown concluded. "When they go out
into the world and live this light con-
sistently with the Lord's help, they
become instruments of spiritual
revival which brings God's help for a
hurting, world."
Flowers were from the funerals of
the late Mrs. Ernest Kennedy and the
late Pat Murphy. The prayers and
sympathy of the congregation are
with their bereaved families.
