Sunday morning Chnstianview Bi-
ble College student Miss Val Skilling
accompanied herself on guitar as she
sang I Love You, Lord. Rev. Roger
Mason read Psalm 9 1:14-16, while
David and Judith Ross brought their
firstborn son Cameron David Ross to
the front to dedicate him to the Lord.
Rev. Mason read Deuteronomy 6:6-7,
verses exhorting parents to diligent-
ly raise their children in the presence
of the Lord. Jesus considers little
children precious as in Matthew
10:15. Airs. Marlene Thornton
beautifully sang Father, We Thank
You.
Rev. Roger Mason ministered from
geuteronomy 6:6-7, stressing people
can spend their whole lives building
up their business, but spend no time
ministering to their children. God
commanded Israel to teach diligent-
ly His laws to their children from aris-
ing, in the morning, during the day.
and at bedtime. Christians seem to
have forgotten this, leaving the Chris-
tian training to the church. The
church and Sunday School are good,
but the children spend only one hour
learning there. Thus the most impor-
tant place and time for com-
municating God's word is in the
home. Children learn attitudes and
values towards Chritianity and life in
the home. They also (earn from all
those they associate with.
Because the first five years of a
child's life are the most impres-
sionable, it is the best time for the
parents to teach them and apply the

principles of God's word in the home.
Deuteronomy 6:20, and 4:9 stress the
transmission of parent's faith to their
children and grandchildren is a
primary task.
Sunday evening Rev. Roger Mason
spoke from 1 Peter 5:8. where Peter
warns against the devil being like a
roaring lion. This warns Christians to
be alert to spiritual danger. Rev.
Mason told a story of how a trapper
over a period of time lured an eagle
into a trap. At first the eagle was
alerted to the change of surroundings
being danger, when fish were left on
the ground for him. But the eagle
became used to this strange trap un-
til it caught him. As Christians we
have a check from the Holy Spirit
when something is wrong in a situa-
tion. We should be sensitive to that
impression, because most dangerous
enemies are unseen. The eagle could
not see the danger, as the trapper was
hidden.
The enemy's trap will always ap-
peal to our basic needs. The trapper
used the eagle's favourite food. fish,
on the shore, easy to get. The devil
used the need of food to tempt Jesus.
but Jesus used the scripture to rebuke
the devil.
Instinctive caution %varnsof hidden
danger, like the eagle. But it learned
to live with the strange dangerous
surroundings. Often the Bible, or the
pastor. or God's Spirit. will warn one
something is wrong. If we ignore
these danger signs, eventually we will
get into trouble.
Free provisions have hidden costs.
The eagle liked the free fish supplied,
but it cost him his freedom. When the
devil tempts a Christian, he does not
tell of the hidden cost of sinning.
There are built-in dangers taa life
of ease. The eagle did not have to hunt
for the fish. Luke12:16-21 tells of a rich
man living in ease, who lost it all.
Deadly traps look harmless until
sprung. The trap lost its danger to the
eagle. The devil makes sin com-
monplace everyday. until Christians
do not see the danger of it destroying
their relationship with God. It takes
time to happen. The eagle could not
escape when the trap sprung. Traps
result in captivity or death. as in
Romans 6:16.
When Jesus is bur Master, we sub-
mit to Him daily, not to our desires.
Living for Jesus gives a Christian a
victorious life.
Upcoming events: April 26, Friday,
at 7:30, will be Christianview Bible
College annual graduation held in
Lucan Revival Centre.
April 23. the regular family night
program will resume. with Rev.
Roger Mason teaching from the Book
of Daniel. Time 7:30 .m
