PCW Daffodil Tea on April 13 The April meeting of Carmel Presbyterian Ladies was held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. with president Margaret Hoggarth presiding; she opened with a meditation and prayer. The group are invited to Kippen on April 9 and to Bayfield on April 12. Treasurer Marlene Bell gave a detail- ed report of finances. A queen -size quilt and pillow shams were on. display which had been finished by the quilt committee. Arrangements were made for the birthday meeting June 10. The next ' meeting c May 1 will be held Monday, June 10 at 2 p.m. The worship was taken by Mrs. Knight. Her address was on "The Master's Touch", which was most in- teresting and informative. • The Easter hymns "Crown Him With Many Crowns" and "Rejoice The: Lord is: King" wei•e sung. Mrs. Knight closed with prayer. Refreshments were served by Ruby Bell and Dorothy Taylor. Arrangements were concluded for the Daffodil Tea and Bake sale on Saturday April 13 at 2:00 p.m. Plan 10 attend. Unit i1 Unit II Hensall U`('.w". held ttieir monthly meeting on Monday April 1. Helen Drysdale welcomed everyone and read a poen "A Good Time Of Year". The topic was taken by Hazel Cor- bett and a very interesting film on "Women in Korea" was shown by Shirley McAllister. A discussion followed the film. Florence Slade used as her theme for the devotional "Joy" and the Easter story. "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross" was sung and Scrip- ture passage from Matthew 27 and 28 was read, followed by prayer. Roll call was answered with a sign of Easter by 12 members. Mrs. Nan Britton was an Easter guest with the MacMillan's in Seaforth. Easter Meeting Unit I11 The Easter meeting of Unit 3 of Hensall U.C.W. was held Tuesday afternoon in the Church Parlor. The worship was conducted by Helen Roberts, the theme being "Prepare for Easter" Dorothy Parker presided for the meeting and opened with a poem "Easter Morning". Members answered the roll call with a Bible verse on Easter. "Thank You" cards were read from Harvey Jacobi and Lauretta Riley. Invitations were received to attend the U.C.W. at Kip - pen and Zurich. Dorothy Brintnell had the study . book. A film was shown on "Women in Korea". Pearl Taylor gave a reading about "Gooseberry Pie". The meeting closed with prayer. Hostesses were Vera Ross and Dorothy Brintnell. Unit 4 Unit 4 of Hensall U.C.W. was open- ed on Thursday by Nan Britton with a poem "Good Friday". Rena Caldwell had the Devotional and read the account of Good Friday by St. Luke Chapter 22, verses 7-22. Just as the Disciples rejected Jesus, we, too, do likewise. Rena closed with a thought provoking poem, "Yet men have always betrayed him; Since Judas first broke bread; Disap- pointed by the kind of lives they led; Today i sat at His table; And I thought I -heard Him sigh; As I asked for His forgiveness; Whispered, Lord was it I?" Shirley Luther read Luke 24 and made the Easter Story come alive. She explained how when He appeared after His Resurrection how difficult his followers found it to realize He was indeed alive. And yet in reading our Bible we will find how easy it is o believe, acceptance is all that is re- uired of us. Mary Roobol reported one get -well nd one birthday card sent. Maunday Thursday A most impressive Maunday Thurs- day service was held at the United Church on Thursday evening when Sharon Wurm, Scott and Starr Jesney led the congregation in the Maunday Thursday, Good Friday drama through scripture readings. The Senior choir assisted with the service by leading the ministry of music along with two anthems. "The Cross Was His Own" a very expressive an- them with much feeling by Mildred E. Heller, and also the very beautiful "Were You There" with Sharon Kyle taking the solo. Mr. McDonald conducted the com- munion service using the mode of receiving the communion at the altar. Following the reading of the scripture pertaining to Jesus' death, the sanc- tuary went into darkness until the sunrise service on Easter Sunday when the service continued. Approximately 130 people arrived at 7:000.m. for Me Sunrise Service on Easter Sunday morning.
