Victoria project
dropped on list
The reconstruction of Victoria St. in
the area. of Exeter Public School has
been dropped by council from the list
of street projects to be undertaken
this year.
The decision was made at a special
meeting of council last Monday,
which was called to discuss savings
that could be made by altering the
public works capital budget for sub-
sidy purposes.
Council approved a total street
capital budget of $172,400 which in-
cludes the following projects:
reconstruct Huron St. W. from Main
to William and resurface from
William to Carling; reconstruction of
Carling from Huron to Anne St. drain;
second coat of asphalt on
Marlborough from Iluron to Well-
ington; second coat of asphalt on
Pryde from Sanders to north limit;
reconstruct Alexander St. E. from
Main to Andrew and resurface from
Andrew to Kalisch Ave.; resurface
Thomas from William to
Marlborough; resurface Kinsgscourt
from Pryde to east limit.

Dear Editor:
Neighbourhoods are not just,
buildings and taxes, they are people,
too! Without people there would be no
neighbourhoods.
What is going to be done about the
public school crossing at the corner
of Main St. and Victoria St. if that
church property is allowed to become
commercial'? It is the last fairly safe
crossing on all of Main Street. The
families on the West side of town
should be very concerned and let the
town council and planning board
know of your concerns before April 10,
1985 when there is a public meeting.
The church on the property should
be considered a heritage building for
the Town of Exeter. It dates back to
the 1800s and is of an unique architec-
tural design.
I am definitely against the change
to commercial.
Sincerely, B.U. May
Dear Editor:
I am writing in regard to the -arti-
cle 'Family Violence widespread in
Huron County'. I realize the journalist
who questioned me is from the city
and maybe that is why she is looking
for a Tittle sensationalism, however,
the fact that she picked up on me is
deplorable and also very damaging to
my business.
The quote that 1 became interested
in helping battered women "because
of the horror stories I heard in my
shop and by the time they seek help,
they are real basket cases" is totally
untrue! I have never heard one 'hor-
ror story' in my shop and if I did I cer-
tainly would not tell the newspaper or
anyone else.
I pride myself on the confidentiali-
ty of my clientele and I do not need
the local newspaper damaging that.
If they are going to make up stories
about me, the least they can do is take
the time and spell my name right.
Thank you.
