The Hawks coaching staff didn't
entertain suggestions that the due be
given special shadowing during the
series, although it was evident to most
that the Braves sink or swim on the
basis of the production of the two
marksmen.
The end of the season also marked
the end of the junior careers for at
least five members of the Hawks. Not
eligible to return for next season due
to age are this year's division MVP
Bill Glover, Mike Clark. Steve Prout,
Jeff Rowe and Brian Horner.
Sewn up in second

frame to take a 6-1 lead and few fans
held out much hope for the Hawks to
rebound.

scored three times in the first two

Extend Seaforth to limit

"D" playoffs, but, they put up a
tremendous battle before bowing out.
With the Seaforth Centenaires
leading the Lucan club three games
to two, the Irish bounced back to post
a 6-5 win Saturday night and force a
seventh and deciding game Sunday
afternoon in Seaforth.
The Centenaires were winners by a
score of 7-6, but, the winning goal
came with only 54 seconds left in
regulation time.
The Seaforth club had moved ahead
three games to two as the result of a
10-2 victory at home Tuesday night.
In Sunday's final contest, the Irish
held a 2-1 first period lead on suc-
cessful shots by Jesse Crawford and

from Rob Hardy. Jim Campbell was
the Seaforth marksman.

notched the only Lucan score on a
three-way passing combination with
Jeff Hodgins and Brent Bannerman

seconds old when captain Dave Mur-
ray put the Centenaires ahead. This
lead didn't last long. In the next three
minutes, the Irish hit the opposition
net on two occasions.
The goal getters were captain Bob
Thirlwall on a powerplay with pass-
ing help of Rob Hardy and Jesse
Crawford and the latter on a pass
from Paul Foran.

was Seaforth's turn for quick scores.
In a span of 33 seconds, Dave Akey

score. This time Scott Balazs pulled
the trigger on passes from Paul
Foran and Bob Thirlwall.

Extend Series

the game proved to be the winner
Saturday night in Lucan and allowed
the Irish to extend the series.
The home club scored three
unanswered•goals in the first period
and
o victory.
Bannerman opened the scoring on
a three-way effort with Jeff Hodgins
and Steve Glenn and two power plays
produced the other two scores 47
seconds apart late in the period.
• Bob Thirlwall notched the second
goal on passes from Steve Keane and
Steve Glenn and the latter along with
Jesse Crawford provided the passes
for a successful shot by Brent Martin.
In the second frame Bob Thirlwall
was the only Irish marksman on
passes from Scott Gilders and Scott
Balazs while Dave Murray and Greg
Murray put Seaforth on the
scoreboard.
Scoring in the third period was
limited to the last seven minutes and
then it came thick and fast.
At 12:46, Steve Glenn put the Irish
three goals up on a pass from Bob
Thirlwall. Only 54 seconds later, Pat
Murray registered for Seaforth and at
14:49 Murray counted again to cut the
Lucan lead to 5-4.

came from the stick of Brent Banner-
man of the Irish at 15:06 with assists
going to Jeff Hodgins and Paul Foran.

the night and the final one for
Seaforth at 17:26 as his team was
playing a man short and the Irish
were able to hang on the rest of the
way to get the win.
Fatal Second Period

Centenaires in the second period pro-
ved to be the downfall of the Irish in
Seaforth Tuesday night.
