Interment took place in Grandlawn

Dashwood Women's Institute held
the February meeting Wednesday
evening with the Cultural Activities
group in charge with conveners Mrs.
Earl Keller, Mrs. Freida Keller and
Mrs. Howard Datars.
President Mrs. Emil Becker open-
ed the meeting by declaring February
as heart month. -She displayed valen-
tine hearts and gave different mean-
ings. Roll call name an artist, was
answered by 17 members and three
visitors.
The tenth convention of Federated
Women's Institutes of Canada will be
held June 16-20 at the University of
Western Ontario with Mrs. Emil
Becker and Mrs. Mary Rader
delegates. The third euchre is
Wednesday February 13.
Mrs. Earl Keller discussed the mot-
to "Happinesslandadds,multiplies as
we divide it with others". She also
read a poem "Tapestry of Life."
She introduced the guest speaker,
Mrs. RuthAnne Merner, an art
teacher at Banting school in London.
RuthAnne asked "What is Art?" She
then described what art was and
showed slides on art depicting the dif-
ferent forms.
Mrs. Mervyn Tieman won a
crocheted doily in a draw.
During lunch of cup cakes and
homemade ice cream, several draws
were made with winners being Mary
Rader, meeting date; Jean Weigand,
Valentine's day; Kathy Keller, Ash
Wednesday; Mildred Kelelrman,

Cromarty Ladies Aid listened to
stereo music featuring Tennessee Er-
nie Ford at their meeting, Monday
evening. Dorothy Miller presided and
opened with a New Year's poem.
Muriel Scott read the minutes, also
thank -you notes from the receipients
of Christmas boxes. The devotions
prepared by Roberta Templeman
were given by Lillian Douglas.
The roll call, A Valentine Verse,
was answered by seven members.
During the business, plans were made
for the annual strawberry supper to
be held Wednesday, June 23.
The members decided to send a
donation to Unitarian Services and
also to remember hospital patients,
Calder and Lila McKaig and Agnes
Lamond with flowers.
Lunch was served by the hostess,
Lillian Douglas, assisted by Jean
Carey.
Boy Scouts
The 1st Cromarty Scouts group
committee met at the home of Cub
leader, Rhea Cameron, Wednesday
evening and finalized plans for the an-
nual church service and banquet
which will be held February 17 in
Dublin and Staffa churches
respectively.
Boys recently invested into Beavers
were Steven Mitchell and Jamie
Groot, and into Cubs, Steven and
Michael Dearing. Scouts who receiv-
ed their B.P. Woodman's Badge were
Jason McCaughery, Shane Van Allen
and Randy Finlayson.
Robert Dearing is to be invested as
an assistant Cub leader, and Roger
Rice as a Scouter -in -Training.
Other up -coming events are the
Perth District annual meeting in St.
Marys, April 11 and the bottle drive,
April 13.

Allen were guests at a family dinner
in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Ross
of Hensall, on the occasion of their
50th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Ross
is the former Vera Allen of Cromarty.
Their family includes Alfred,
Seaforth, June Ingersoll, Faye,
Toronto, and Eric, London, also seven
grandchildren and qne great grand-
child. Congratulations and best
wishes to to Alf and Vera from the

Alvin and Joyce Dow have return-
ed home after a vacation in the
Dominican Republic.
Glad to hear that Lila McKaig is
improving and is now a patient in the
R.E.C.U., Stratford; also that Agnes

with'prayer. The.budget was set up
for 1985. A number of business items
were discussed and taken care of.
Plans for a 50th wedding anniversary
were discussed, also for a wedding,
both to be catered in June.
Unit I met at the home of Mrs.
Elmer Summers on Thursday after-
noon. Mrs. Dorgen McHonert opened
the meeting with lesson thoughts en-
' titled "Jesus loves Me".
Mrs. Audrey Westman was respon-
sible for the program and read a
chapter from the study book on
Korea. This dealt with the workers in
1 the textile industries, the long hours
of working time. (7 a.m. -11 p.m.) and
the low wages the workers receive,
and how it affects their health.
During the business period a
number of items were discussed and
taken care of. A tasty meal was serv-
ed by Mrs. Amelia Jameson, assisted
by the hostess. Mrs. Jackie Pearce
answered the roll call with a song en-
titled "The Joy of the Lord" for which
she had written the words and the
music.
Mrs. Nora Wassel was hostess for
Unit IV. Mrs. Gary Humphries
presided and opened the meeting with
a scripture reading ;followed by a
reading entitled "What makes the
world go round".
The program was presented by
Mrs. Humphrey and Mrs. Rhea Har-
die. The subject was "Sunday, the
Lord's Day". A discussion followed.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Verda
Tate assisted by the hostess.
Anglican church
Rev. Peter A. Derrick was in
charge of the morning prayer service
at St. Thomas Anglican Church. The
crucifer was Richard Moore and
pianist Lois Herbert. The two lessons
were read by Lisa Moore and the
rector.
Rev. Derrick preached his sermon
from the first letter of Paul to Corin-
thians and based it on Chapter IX
verses 16 to 23.
Next Sunday's service will be 11:30
a.m. ACW meet
St. Thomas ACW met at the home
of Mrs. Kenneth Hodgins and Mrs.
Lois Herbert last Thursday evening.
The president Mrs. Don Roloson open-
ed the meeting with tie invocation
and meditation taken from "The Lov-
ing Message". Mrs. Joe French read
the scripture.
Mrs. L. Herbert read a couple of ar-
ticles entitled "Evangelize or
Fossilize" and happenings of the ACW
group at Lac De Bonnet taken from
the diocese of Keewatin. Also Mrs.
Jack Noon read a poem "A Christian
Witness" taken from the same paper.
Articles for St. Monica's House were
handed in.

Bruce Pierce was in charge of morn-
ing worship on Sunday and entitled
his sermon "Jesus identifies with our
Neighbour".
Prior to the sermon Mrs. Jackie
