They started off with an impressive win over Walker- ton 8 -3 and followed with identical 6-3 decisions over Chippawa and Guelph Kinghts of Columbus. The division semi-final pitting the Pis Beans against Erin Mills provid- ed to be very close and exciting. The two teams played to a 2-2 tie in regulation time and overtime. At this point each coach named five players to participate in a shoot-out. After the 10 shots had been taken, only one goal was recorded and that was by Bob Johnston of the Has Beans. In the final, the Zurich club edged Guelph K of C 3-1 and the right to bring home the trophy. In addition to the 'F' championship 1/. Jim D. Guenther Frayne Chev-Olds Ltd. Hawks play improves. but lose third straight The Exeter Hawks suffered their third straight loss at the rec centre, Friday, but it was a much superior ef- fort to that which the club displayed in the other two defeats. They played the northern division leading Tavistock Braves on even ground throughout the contest in which they ended up on the short end of a 3-1 verdict. Don Hamilton shot the home crew into a lead at the 6:23 mark of the first period when he finished off a play with Steve Gould and Ted Hodgins. Tavistock pulled even at the 3:30 mark of the second when they beat netminder Jason VanHaarlem and they potted the eventual winner on a powerplay marker at the 9:46 mark. The insurance tally came at the 14:45 mark of the third after the Hawks had failed on some good chances to knot the count. Both teams stuck strictlyto hockey and took three minors each. Van Haarlem ended up with 28 saves, while Mike Oliver had 30 for the Braves. More sports on page 21 Tuesday's me in Mitchell was cancelled a the Hawks will have two home games this weekend.
