at Dashwood
Dashwood Women's Institute spon-
sored a euchre Wednesday, January
16 at the community centre. There
were 12 tables in play. Winners were
ladies high, Greta Restemayer; low,
Grace Masse. Men's high, Earl
Morgan; low, Ron Fahner. The next
euchre will be Wednesday, January
30.

Leeland E. Guenther, 83, passed
away December 26, at Swift Curren:
Union Hospital in Saskatchewan
following a lengthy illness. Survived
by wife, Pearl, one son Allan; 12
grandchildren and 13 great-
grandchildren; one brother, Earl and
three sisters, Gladys, Grace and
Euloeen all of Ontario. One son, Doug
predeceased him in 1979.
Mrs. Elda Koehler has returned
home after spending over a month in
Oshawa where she was house mother
to Susan and Chris Baynham while
their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Nagle
were away.
Ivan Willert of Ladysmith, Victoria.
B.C. spent a day visiting with Mrs.
Elda Koehler last week.

Decorating topic
at Kippen WI
Kippen East WI held their cultural
activities meeting at the home of
Marlene Bell. The assistant co -
hostess was Thea Wisch. Roll call was
answered by "A rule I try to live by."
Phyllis Parsons contributed a poem
"If 1 had My Life to Live Over."

Week, Marlene Bell's contest was on
that subject. It showed our ignorance
of the officials, both appointed and
elected.
Joyce Pepper was in charge of the
meeting. She introduced guest
speaker Graham Cottrell of
Graham's interiors, Hensall, who
spoke on interior decorating, with
particular emphasis on the
decorating of windows. He showed
many samples, outlined their purpose
and described the different types of
window dressing. He was thanked for
a most interesting presentation by
Hilda Payne.
Grace Pepper had nothing to report
from the Sunshine committee.
It was decided to make donations to
the Erland Lee Home, the Adelaide
Hoodless Home, and Safe Water.
Plans were made for the quilt
which the ladies will make for the
Tuckersmith competition celebrating
their sesquicentennial.
Volunteers offered to help with the
Sportsmens Dinner for which South
Huron and District will cater.
Members also agreed to help with a
fashion show scheduled for April 24.
Mary Broadfoot entertained with a
medley of fine music at the piano.
Evelyn Workman gave courtesy
remarks.
Lunch was served by the hostesses
and by Charlotte McDowell and Mona
Alderdice.

The Energetic Eight met at the
home of Bob and Frances Kinsman on
Friday, .January 18. This is a newly
formed group who enjoy a good game
of euchre and lively conversation.
Ladies high was won by Doris
Hamilton. men's high by Harold
Parsons.
Kippen area residents were among
those in the surrounding district hit by
the severe storms which arrived
Saturday and seemed reluctant to
leave the area. Many were stranded
on roads in cars and in homes of kind
people who opened their doors to
stranded motorists.
