South Huron edgers in action
'l'he Exeter Mohawks scored a goal
in the last seven minutes of the third
period to gain a 4-4 tie with Wingham
in WOAA intermediate hockey action
Friday night and preserve their re-
cent unbeaten streak.
The only loss the Mohawks have
suffered in the 1984-85 season was to
the same Wingham club. In further
action at the South Huron Rec Centre
Sunday night, the Mohawks trounced
the Drayton Oilers by a score of 17-5.
This week, the only action for the
Exeter club comes Sunday night
when they again play host to the same
Drayton Oilers.
In Wingham Friday night it was a
goal by Marty Wraith on a three-way
passing combination with captain
Randy Kraul and Brian Mercer that
allowed the Mohawks to get the tie at
12.57 of the final period.
Wingham took a 2-1 first period lead
on successful shots by Brian TenPas,
and Brent Day. The only reply for the
Mohawks came from the stick of
Dave Jackson on passes from Pete
Tuckey and Brian Mercer.
In the middle session each team
scored once and Wingham's single
goal lead continued. For the Mohawks
Dave Jackson notched his second goal
of the night on a play started by Barry
Baynham and Brian Mercer. Hitting
for Wingham was Randy Clarke.
Early in the third period, Pete
Tuckey converted a pass from Brent
Atthill and the Mohawks were back on
. even terms. Just _past the midway
mark, Randy Clarke put Wingham
ahead again and set the stage for the
tying counter by Marty Wraith.
