News from Revival Centre
Sunday morning Rev. Roger Mason
read Matthew 18:23-35. a parable of
forgiveness. Believers need to stand
in the security of God's full
forgiveness. When a person is not
secure in God's forgiveness. he takes
it out on others. The first failure this
unforgiving servant had was he fail-
ed to receive and accept the king's
forgiveness.
Just like this servant owed so much
he could not ever repay it, so we can
never repay to God the debt He
forgave us for. Through our own ef-
forts we cannot earn God's
forgiveness or grace. As this king in
compassion forgave this servant his
debt. so God will freely forgive us in
love our debt to Him, through Jesus.
This servant showed no gratitude
for his forgiveness. misunderstanding
the release of his indebtedness. He
still acted as though he was still under
the burden of that debt. Because he
walked with bitterness when he found
a man who owed him a bit of money.
he did not forgive him. There are
many believers walking around who
have not allowed the teaching of
God's forgiveness to penetrate their
inner man to free them from guilt.
The feel the have to
`s forgiveness.
The second failure was not to
forgive in the same situation he was
in before the king. The king then
demanded to know why thisservant
had not shown mercy when the.king
had shown mercy to him. Because he
had not accepted the king's grace, he
could not accept and forgive others.
When believers realize the full
forgiveness ofGod, they are liberated.
Then when people hurt them, they can
forgive them because God has
forgiven them.
Rev. Roger Mason spoke from
Nehemiah 1:1-11 Sunday evening.

Quitters ready at UC
At Lucan United Church's January
Communion service on Sunday. Mr.
Brown spoke briefly on the theme
"Beyond the Manger". "We need to
remember that God's greatest gift
was not merely the babe in the
manger." he said. "but the man who
died on the Cross that we may have
eternal life." This Jesus rose again
from the dead, and all authority is
given to flim.
Any celebration of Christmas that
ignores these facts will be spiritually
unsatisfying. for this was the Good
News the angel proclaimed that first
Christmas. Only as we personally
turn away from all sin in our lives and
open our hearts fully to Christ will we
know the full blessing of Christmas.
Mr. Brown challenged the congrega-
tion to do this during the Communion
service following.
The service was preceded by an in-
formal time of praise in song led by
ture lessdn for the morning. In keep-
ing with the theme of the morning, the
choir sang. "Let us break bread
together on our knees."
Gloria Maier took charge of the
children for Junior Congregation. and
Helen Patterson was at the door to
welcome those arriving for service.
Flowers in the sanctuary were from
the funeral of the late Mrs. Eleanor
_Darling. The sympathy and prayers
of the congregation go out to her
family.

ship Unit hold their regular January

denominational Prayer and Share
Fellowship continue their studies in
Luke in the C.E. Wing. All women of
the community are cordially invited

Nehemiah was concerned about the
condition of the city of Jerusalem.
mourning for days, because he learn-
ed the gates and walls of the city were
broken down. The church has some
anwa Fs broken down
that Christians should be concerned
about.
As Nehemiah's concern turned in-
to prayer, so the Christian can turn to
prayer. A lot. of problems in the
church could be eliminated if Chris-
tians went to God in prayer instead of
talking to people. God began to instill
in Nehemiah what he should do after
he confessed sin, both of the nation,
and himself. Christians must confess
sin to God in open hearted honesty for
God to answer prayer.
Confession led to a vision of pro-
mise of God to restore Jews to
Jerusalem. For the Christian church
to grow Christians have to return to
God in repentance.
