Oddfellows Lodge plans January. euchre
The 1.0.(1.F. Lodge members had
a most successful New fears Eve
party at the local hall The ladies pro-
vided a delicious meal and music was
enjoyed by the Cavaliers
On January. 10 ai p in they are
holding a Euchre parr in the local
hall and everyone is welcuna. Please
keep the elate in mind
Ilensall Bantams
The Ilensall Bantam lloys will be
holding a bottle drive on Saturday
January 12 to raise money for the
team to travel to tournaments The
boys thank you for your support in

Queensway Nursing !tome
We had a lot of fun welcoming the
New Year to (Queensway on
December 31. 11'e danced and
reminisced to the tunes of yesterday's
"Big Bands" Equipped with party
hats and noisemakers we rang in the
New Year with a cheer.
Our church service wits 'held on
Thursday, led by Rev. Jim Sutton ,
Friday afternoon was Gaines Day in
the Rest Home. We played Euchre
and crokinole and had a great time
Many of, us spent the Christmas
holiday with our families. Queensway
also entertained visitors over the holi-
day season._ We would like to thank
our visitors for sharing Christmas
with us.

Unit IV of Henall United Church
was presided over by Nan Britton on
January :3 with a poem for the New
Year.
Nan Britton based the devotional on
the first verse of the Bible. -'In the
beginning trod created the Heaven
and the Earth." Nan suggested that
the New Year can be a time of new
beginnings 'Thank God for the lessons
we have learned and determine to be
better persons.
Thirteen members answered the
Roll ('all !Myr(le Sherritt, reported 57
visits. Livings for December was
over $79 The offering was received by
Vera Lemmom and dedicated by
Nan
For the study, Elva Forrest show-
ed a film on Korea that gave insight
into the Christian Influence in the
political. social and industrial life; 25
percent of the Korean South are
Christian. Elva served a delicious
Korean Mushroom soup during the
viewing of the film.
Susan Purdy and Evelyn Flynn
served a delicious lunch.
Amber Lodge
The members of Amber Rebekah
Lodge. 349 met on Wednesday even-
ing, January 2 with Noble Grand
Eunice Aikenhead presiding. assisted
by Vice Grand Lois Jones.
A thank you note was received from
the Huron Day Care Centre for the
Homebound for the donation sent to
them.
The Humanitarian Services Com-
mittee will be holding a Euchre Par-
ty in the lodge room. January 10 at 8
p.m.
The United Church ladies are to
cater for a banquet on February 6
when D.D.P. Day Wise and the Vice
President of the Rebekah Assembly

ed to Ottawa last Monday after spen-
ding Christmas with the Parkers and

South I luron Youth For Christ held
their January Rally. Saturday, Jan
5 in Brucefield School with 200 or
more in attendance. Director Ron
Westlake was in charge
The rally opened by singing "His
name is wonderlul". "1 get so thrill-
ed with Jesus' and "1 keep Falling to
love with 111111 over and over again.
Pearl Ann Marlin accompanied at the
piano. Prayer by Ron Westlake. Quiz
zing followed with five teams com-
peting. They quizzed on Psalms 121
smf 128. Baylleld scored ist. Zurich
e 2nd. Goderrch :fr•d. Exeter 41h.

numbers "(Sod is hove" and ''Surely
the Love of the Lord is in this place
The Paradise Players" then con-
tinued with more dramatized gospel
messages This was one of the most
spiritual rallies of the year
The February Rall will be in the
form ot a skating parte on February
2 in Zuarich Arena at 7 o'ckic'k There
will be skating. quizzing and a short
program. Refreshments will be
served.
United Church
The United Church service on Sun-
day morning opened with a Gospel
Hymn Sing, singing many of the old
favourites through the years. The
iartte attendance was greeted by
Ilarold Parsons and Donald 1Vareing.
Scott McAllister. Bill Stebbins and
Doug Kyle were ushers for the day
Organist Mrs. Bela Fuss and
Senior Choir led the ministry of
music.
Mr. Mclsonald spoke nn the subject
of the "Importance of Egypt". lie
said how we suffer through the
Egypts of our lives, but it is -often in
the Egypis of our lives that we find
deliverance.
The children's story for the day was
"What -will he put into this year''" Mr.
McDonald had a waste paper can as
well as a new calendar and the
children decided .which place they
would put the different things.
The flowers at the front of the
church were placed in loving memory
of Mrs John Jarrott.
Following the service the congrega-
tion enjoyed an hour of fellowship
over coffee and cookies with Lorna
Spencer and Mary Brintnell as
hostess.
