T -A photo UCW hosts secret friends 'Secret Friends'. from Crestwood and Crestview were the special guests of the Dorcus .unit, Lucan United Church Women, at the church on Tuesday afternoon. Unit members and their guests enjoyed a time of games, led by Iva Hodgins and Kay - Armstrong. The period of worship which followed was led by Mabel Froats and . Bernice Lockyer and focussed on the message of Christmas. Iva Hodgins played Santa during the gift exchange v,hich revealed the 'identity of secret friends for 1983. After a time of carol singing. the ladies gathered around the gaily decorated tables to enjoy conversa- tion and the Christmas goodies pro- vided by Muriel Cobleigh, Greta Gib- son. Elnora Reycraft, Lillian Brown and lloa Goring. Unit members met earlier in the afternoon for a business meeting chaired by Mabel Froats. December 10 at 9::36 a.m. was chosen as the time to -pack Christmas shut-in baskets. Unit members were reminded .to bring Christmas cookies and squares to include in the -baskets. Plans were made for the unit's par- ticipation in the worship service at the Revival centre news Lucan Revival Centre . hosted a community Talent Night Tuesday evening. Rapture Hot Line featured Mike- Armstrong answering the phone. Perry Cunningham called. but put off the invitation to be saved. A lady tried to get Mark Kerkey to turn around to see the light. When he finally decided to turn around, he found the light to be beautiful. After CHOIR SINGS Sunday, November 17, the Biddulph School Camber Choir sang at the Metropolitan Church in London. The songs they sang were :For The Beau- ty of the Earth, Let There be Peace on Earth and God Bless the Master. The choir was directed by.Randy Martin, music teacher at Biddulph and sang very well and the congrega- tion enjoyed their music. Foot clinic for seniors Vice-president, Hamilton Hodgins. chaired the business meeting of the Sunshine and Busy Buddies groups Thursday afternoon in the Scout - Guide Hall. Cathy Mason kept jerking her head, saying she was good enough. Laura Hefferman ex- tolled sex. sex, sex. They all fell into hell. satan came along and said he promised them much. but all was lies. Nello Romagnoli, as silly Willie, and Verle Bend. as Johnny Cash, were the Bible College Blues singers doing Back to School Again, accom- panied by Nello playing his guitar. Young people presented the World Series. Mark Fox gave a rundown on the Bible prophets as game players against the demons of darkness. Verle Bend was impressed with Jesus being the top coach helping His players be- ing victorious players. Mrs. Jana Lypn Rutledge played the piano ac- companying Mrs. Charlene Hazeen who sang Ile Watches Over All While Nello Romagnoli played his guitar. Tony Abbott read of Father Spirit singing a song of love with Mark Kirkey acting as the white Spirit singer. Black world hater came to disturb the singer tempting him to sing evil songs. The world hater played a tempting tune on a flute, but Christian singer sent him away. Mrs. Charlene Hazeen read a story of children enslaved by a witch. Mrs. Jana Lynn Rutledge acted out as she told the story of a lion coming to rescue them. Tospare a boy about to be killed by the witch, the lion offered himself. and died, This story -sym- bolized Jesus' sacrifice on Calvary. Sunday: Morning Rick Thornton led the song service Sunday morning. Rev. Roger Mason spoke from Matthew 6:12. concerning forgiveness of debts and debtors. taken from Jesus' model prayer. Jesus wanted Christians to have a spirit of forgiveness to release people from offenses. John 1:9 tells up to con- fess wrong doing to God to continue in a right relationship with God. Rev Roger Mason Sunday evening ministered from Genesis 45:1-8. 15. with Genesis 50:15-21. the story of Joseph's forgiveness of his brothers. Ile could have used his position to wreak vengeance against his brothers. but God had dealt with him in a tremendous way. The principles of forgiveness were lived out in .Joseph's life Joseph is one of the few men in the Bible of which nothing evil was ever said of him. Lucan Clandeboye United -Church Sunday School presented their annual White Gift Service in the church sanc- tuary Sunday morning during the regular worship hour. - The Junior and Senior Young Peo- ple's classes under the direction of their teachers, Barb Bannerman and Wes Stanley, conducted the service and took part in a dramatized version of the Christmas story entitled "On- ly A Stable". ' Those participating in the drama were Tim Bates, Krista Riddell, Stephen.Snider, Abby Bates, Carrie Lane, Bobby Jo Quinlan, Heather Hugill, John Marshall, Angie Sire and Matthew Lane. Dana Bannerman led in the worship, assisted by Tabatha Froats, Sherrie Smith, Don Hugill and Mary Holden. The combined group also sang a lovely song of praise, "We . worship you, 0 Child Divine." A vehicle operated by William Stephenson, Granton went out of con- trol on Middlesex road 50 at 1:10 p.m., Thursday and rolled over into the ditch. Damages were listed at $1,000 by Constable Chapman. The first of four Thursday mishaps.' occurred at 8 a.m. and involved vehicles driven by Anita Giesen. Lucan and Donald McLellan, Thor - dale. Constable Roby estimated damages at $2,500. Constable Wilcox set damages at $1,000 at 9:08 a.m. when a vehicle travelling west on Concession road 6 was struck by a vehi4le operated by John Medd, Ilderton. At 10:59 a.m.. the same day a vehi- cle operated by Richard Parish, St. Thomas was travelling north on the Cameron sideroad when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle which slid through an intersection. Con- stable Wilcox listed damages at $7,500. Constable Craig set damages at $2,500 when a vehicle driven by Cin- dy Kokavecz, London left Middlesex road 27 and skidded into the ditch.
