the Youth designated by the United
Nations. this theme has prompted the
Zurich Ag. Society to honor our young
people of the community at our an-
nual lair on July 26 and 27. Interna-
tional Year of the Youth stress the age

Margaret Deichert attended the Con-
stituting Convention of Eastern
Synodical -Evangelical Lutheran
Women at Wilfrid Laurier Universi-
ty in Waterloo on Friday to Sunday.
Evangelical Lutheran Women will
become the offical women's organiza-
tion of the newly -organized
Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Canada on January 1, 1986. Thhis con-
stituting convention brought together
women from Ontario. Quebec and the
Atlantic provinces of the Eastern
Canada Synodical Unit of L.C.W. and
of the Eastern Conference of
E.L.C.W.
The national president of
Evangelical Lutheran Women, Mrs.
Jacqueline Schmitt of British Colum-
bia was in attendance at the
convention.
Park picnic
Members of the Lutheran Church
ladies' group enjoyed a nice sunny
day last Tuesday afternoon with a pic-
nic lunch for their July meeting, held
at McKinnon's Park.
A nice time was had by all of us at
a family barbecue supper at the cot-
tage of Mozart and Marie Gelinas' Sr.
which was attended by, Mr. and Mrs.
Keva Silverstein, London, Mr. and
Mrs. Butch Sweeney and family, Clin-
ton, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Sweeney
and family, Mr. and Mrs. Mozart
Gelinas Jr. and family and Mr. and
Mrs. Martin Gelinas and family all of
Zurich, along withh relatives from
Michigan. Anna -Marie Cavil and
friend Bob and daughter, Kathleen.
Poultry Club Potluck
The Huron County Poultry Club
Association held their annual summer
picnic and potluck supper on Sunday,
July 14 at the home of Cliff and Laura
Pepper, RR 1 Dashwood, with
members coming from Guelph,
Milverton, Brayton, Petrolia and Port
Huron as well as from the surroun-
ding area.
The oldest club member, Lloyd
O'Brien along with his wife Vera from
Zurich, were among those who en-
joyed the afternoon of visiting with
friends. while the children played
games and sports.

Marg Johnston were nephews Kurt
and Sandy Gemming of Rochester,
New York who spent a week visiting
with them and cousins Bob and Tootie
Merner and family, and Bob and
Carol Johnston and boys.

Howard and Birdie Finkbeiner arid
son Carl returned home on July 8
after a lovely week's holiday on a
tour. They flew from Toronto to
Calgary then travelled to Banff and
also went to Lake Louise. They en-
joyed the Calgary Stampede. '

.Volunteers key to success
of 47 -year-old DVBS
Daily Vacation Bible School has•
long been a tradition in Zurich. The
summer school began in the Men-
nonite Church 47 years ago. and has
yearly attracted approximately 200
young people to a week for fun.

DVBS was given permission about
10 years ago to use the facilities of the
public school. Emmanuel United and
.SI. Peter's Lutheran congregations
'joined with the Mennonite soon after-
wards to make the annual project a
cooperative. interdenominational
venture.
This year Gwyn Whilsmith is
superintendent.
More than 20 people serve as
volunteer teachers. Audrey Ifaberer,
Carol Steckle'and Pearl Ann Martin
are music leaders. Jim Grainger and
Wayne Keller drive the two buses that
bring children in from the surroun-
ding area each day. Others help by
keeping children in kindergarten to
grade four supplied with cookies for
their daily snack.
Each year . Mennonite pastor
Clayton Kuepfer says "never again'
then finds himself once more elbow
deep in plaster of paris powder show-
ing another class how to mould and
paint attractive plaques for their
bedroom walls.
All classes are taught from
material obtained from Scripture
Press in Cincinnati. This year the
theme is "Following in the footsteps
of Jesus". All money collected will be
used to help send single mothers and
their children to Hidden Acres Camp

Friday evening at the public school
which was presented by the chhildren
attending Bible School last week. All
the teachers and helpers were treated
to a luncheon at the United Church on

A good time was had by all at a re-
cent "Buck and Doe" party for Dave
Kegler and 'Tracey Dietrich who are
to be married on July 26. It was held
at .the home of friends Martin and
Theresa VanRaay, RR 3. Dashwood.
Juliette Denomme enjoyed going
to the Marian Shrine in St. Marys
recently with her son Ambrose from
Kitchener to hear Father Moore
speak. say Mass, also Benediction
and Blessing of the sick followed by
procession with the Statue of Mary
while saying the Rosary.
Allen and Rosemary Scott and sons
spent a few days up north at their hun-
ting camp.
Wilfred and Beatrice Corriveau
spent last week in Michigan visiting
with his brother Jules and Helen Cor-
riveau, and daughter, Beverly Mor-
ris in Lake Orion. .

Aunt, Mrs. Florence Denomme spent

her daughter - Dolores Staton, North
of St. Joseph.
