Lioness sponsor Craig euchre

Thirteen tables of euchre were at
play at the Lioness club euchre, June
26. Winners were Jessie Lewis, Carl
Morgan. Mrs. Darling, Murray
Carter. Marj Steeper: Alma Hodgins
won the door prize.
Pete Coleman having the highest
score. 4b2 points. from April to June
was the high score winner, while Mrs.
Elmer Walker was the second winner
with a score of 437 points. Congratula-
tions. This was the last Lioness
euchre.
The Activity Centre Committee
sponsored a bus trip to Hamilton
Place. June 20 to see that extravagaza
- the Geritol Hollies. Stops were also
made at Ancaster for lunch, the
Hamilton Rose Gardens. A hot buffet
dinner al Cambridge was enjoyed on
the return. trip.
The "('entre" committee is also
busy preparing for the shuffleboard
tournament tor July 18. and a float for
(he Gala Days parade on July 21.
Local tournaments are• held on the
shuffleboard court every second Mon-
day evening. Won't you come and join
in the fun''

Grainger of Andrew St., Exeter
announces the graduation of her
daughter Bernice Uebele from
University of Western Ontario,
June 7, 1985. Bernice received
her Bachelor of Nursing Science
degree and is currently working
at the Kitchener Waterloo
Hospital, Kitchener. Bernice is o
graduate of South Huron District
High School.

Sunday service at St. Patrick's was
conducted by Rev. P. Derrick and
held at 8:30 a.m. Mrs. W..Carroll pro-
vided music and Mrs. Davis read the
first lesson.
Rev. Derrick read the second lesson
and spoke to the children on parent's
love and our Father's love, he took his
text from I1 Corinthians: 12.
Service next Sunday is planned for
11 a.m.
Several from this area attended the
Silver. Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Stone, Atwood. She was former-
ly Maxine Godbolt of Centralia area.
Many from this community visited
the Hopper -Hockey funeral home, Ex-
eter, to pay respects to the late
Clarence Smith. He lived on his farm
on the sideroad off concession 2 Bid-
dulph for many years.
Mrs. Agnes Hotson, Lucan and Mrs.
Mary Davis were luncheon guest with
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Stanley, London.
Miss Marylou Tindall spent the
weekend with her parents Mr. and
Mrs. Bob Tindall.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob MacGillivray and
Courtney were guests Saturday with
Bob's aunt in Toronto.

B.C. wereSaturday visitors with Jean
l lodgins. The Jones were tracing their
roots in Clandeboye.' Alvin Jones's
father. William Anson Jones, was a
Medical Doctor who practised his pro-
fession in Clandeboye from 1896-1914,
then moving to Ottawa. Alvin Jones
has just recently donated all of his
father's medical equipment to the
F anshawe Museutn, in London.
Dr. Win. Arisen Jones was a brother
to Francis .tones. Cabinet Maker in
Clandeboye from 1850-1894. Francis
.Jones' collection of Cabinet Maker
Tools are on display in the National
Museum of Man in Ottawa.
Francis Jones' son, E.D. Jones,
whom a few older people from this
area still remember, was married to
1ary Ann Simpson. an aunt to the
late Maurice Simpson and Mrs. Emi-
ly Tomes. K.O. Jones lived on a 200
acne farm that bordered the side road
north of Gelxls Cabinets and No. 4
highway
Tracing their roots seems to beget-
ting quite popular as 1 had a family
from Saginaw. Michigan. a week ago.

Did you know everyone is training
their pet turtle already for the turtle
races here on July 20 at 1:30 p.m:?
On Saturday morning the road
race will begin at 9 a.m. with registra-
tion first. Other events are the open-
ing ceremonies in the park at noon,
turtle races later, and pork barbecue
at 5.
Why don't you and the family at-
tend breakfast in the park on Sunday
morn. An inter -denominational
church service will be held mid -morn
followed by the parade.
For many folk there'll be an old
tyme fiddlin' jamboree. Beef
barbecue at supper time followed by
Gospel sing.

and fellowship?

Glanville family reunites

The 33rd annual Glanville reunion
was held on Sunday at Seaforth Lion
Park with 70 in attendance.
A ball game was held in the after-
noon and then a smorgasbord supper
which opened by Richard Horst say-

President Chas Hayden thankea
everyone for coming and thanked the
ladies for a delicious supper. Minutes
of the meeting were read by secretary
Carlene Glanville.
President for 1986 is Gordon Miller,
Secretary Lorna Finkbeiner; vice-
president for 1987 is Roy Glanville and
secretary Leona Bissonette.
Sports committee is Betty Glan-
ville. Sports were conducted by
Doreen McRoberts. She played the
price is right, coming the farthest
Steve Glanville Delta B.C.
Youngest baby Kevin Robbins, four
months, oldest person Johny Glan-
ville. A peanut and candy scramble
was held for the children.
The 1986 picnic will be held same
place and July 8 next year.
Zion servivce
Sunday services at Zion United
Church were held with Bob Heywood
in charge. Special music was provid-
ed by him.
Next Sunday Mr. George Cowan
will be in charge, with services at 10
a.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Wilson and girls,
Cayuga are spending some time with
the latter's mother Mrs. Earl Haist.
Mrs. Russell Beaver entertained
the ladies by having a tupperware
party July 3.
