Kippen East Women's In-
stitute began their Christmas
party with a sumptuous
turkey dinner and all the
trimmings. Mrs. Jack
Sinclair distributed prizes
compliments of Mr. and Mrs.
Dwight Stacey, Mitchell to
Ruby Triebner who was on
the lucky chair. •
Alex McGregor got the door
prize: Campbell Eyre had the
most change in his pocket and
Mildred Chalmers, who was
going the farthest away for
Christmas.
Since it was Janet Hog-
garth's birthday she was
honoured by "happy birthday
to 3,ou" and a beautiful cake
..complete with candles.
Mona Alderdice commenc-
ed fun time with a reading
and assisted by Marlene Bell
and Grace Adkins conducted
many contests which were en-
joyed. Alex McGregor had the
least hair on his head. Ernie
Whitehouse won the checker
game.
Mr. and Mrs. Campbell
Eyre had a wedding anniver-
sary nearest to December 15.
Grace Eyre had the heaviest'
purse weighing in a five
pounds. Frances Kinsman
andPhyllis Parsons were
runners up with four pound
purses. During the
dishwashing session a contest
was held and Stan McDonald
was the winner. Marlene Bell
gave a reading "The
Farmer's Wife".
Grace Drummond con-
ducted the • meeting by
welcoming the guests and in-
troducing the 4-H club leaders

Alex Townsend, Mrs. Al Hot-
garth and Mrs. Rqp

gifts. Grace Drummond read,
"The twelve days before
Christmas."
Mrs. Jack Sinclair, in
charge of the program read a
poem "A tribute to the Cow"
and then introduced the guest
speaker, Dwight Stacey of
Mitchell. Mr. Stacey was an
interesting and informative
speaker.
As third generations with
the Stacey plant he gave a
short history of its inception
and touched on the change in
consumer eating habits and
new products such as yogurt
and specialty cheese that
have become popular.
He mentioned how the fast
food outlets such as
McDonald's etc. have chang-
ed the demands for cheese.
He predicted that bulk foods,
Which are now the rage will
have a short life and that
Canada will have one-stop
shopping. Mrs. Sinclair clos-
ed the program with a poem
"Season's Greetings".
Mrs. Ross Broadfoot con-
ducted a quartette picked ,up
from the audience namely
Stan McDonald, Bob Bell,
Harold Parsons and Grant
MacLean.
Mrs. Campbell Eyre gave
Courtesy Remarks. Santa ar-
rived and distributed the gifts
and the evening closed with
"We wish you a Merry
Christmas".

Christmas worship led by
Mrs. Ronald McGregor, open-
ed with the singing "0 come
all ye Faithful' . She discuss-
ed how the good news of
Christmas means new life
and forgiveness to Christians
everywhere. An interesting
play in the form of a family
discussion entitled, Christmas
means... described the origin
of many symbols and customs
associated with the season.
Those assisting Mrs.
McGregor with the play in-
cluded Mrs. R. Kinsman,
Mrs. Don Moffatt and Mrs.
David Cooper. This mean-
ingful worship period closed
with singing "p little town of
Bethlehem."
President Mrs. David Turner
opened the business period
with a poem "The priceless
gift of Christmas".
President, Mrs. Davis
Turner opened the business
period with poem ""i'he
priceless t of Christmas".
' Plans made for pack-
ing and delivering the shut-in
boxes before Christmas and it
was announced that the books
compiling the history of Kip -
pen and the area will be
available shortly ..Budget for
1963 was presented by the
treasurer Mrs Bert Faber
and amended and approved.
Mrs. Roliert Kinsman in-
troduced the guest for the
evening. Mrs. John Broad -
foot, Brucsefield who spoke on
the. Chrismons. She had ex-
amples of these symbolic
Christian Christmas or-
naments and explained
carefully their special
meaning.
Mrs. Broadfoot was thank-
ed by Mrs. John Sinclair who
also gave the Courtesy
Remarks. Mrs. Turner
reviewed the January
meeting and brought the
Christmas evening to a close
with the poem, "A Prayer for
Christmas Day".
