how we should receive the

A hand made sweater and
toque made by Mrs. Adrian-
na Smeekens was presented
to : Father Morrissey as a
Christmas gift, with a com-
ical reading about the
sweater given by Mrs.
Madeline Dalton.
After the meeting all en-
joyed •singing Christmas
.carols and a singalong led by
-Paul Dietrich at the organ. In.
the. social time games of
cards were played and lunch
refreshments served.
A humorous poem "The
night before Christmas" was
read by Nancy Stokkermans.

Merry Christmas and 'a
peaceful holiday season.
Bible coffee hour
-Nancy Turnbull was
hostess at .her home for the
Bible coffee hour last Tues-
day afternoon with 17 in atten-
dance: The class was led by
Mrs. Irene -Read. on ex-
amples of how Old Testament
people lived by faith and
prayer.
In 1st Samuel. David
prayed to let Thy name be
magnified and to bless the
house of his servants. All
things come from God. and
David asked God to give
Samuel a perfect heart to
keep the commandments. In

guests visited Minerva and Harold Prance on their 5Oth
Golden Wedding Anniversary on No ember 7. Pouring
the tea Cathy Kwarciak Jr. and Becky Najdzion, Reto
Carty, London, Dorothy Pyne, Petrolia; sisters Audrey
Moore, Exeter, Evelyn'Dumigon, Grand Bend. They also
received a lot of flowers and gifts. They have two
daughtersMrs. Betty Gill, Thedford and Mrs. Shirley
Gotelaer Jr. Ridgetown, nine grandchildren and three
great granddaughters. Mrs. Dorothy Bullock, Exeter
was also present a bridesmaid of 50 years ago. We
thank our daughters and grandchildren and great
granddaughter Valerie for working hard to make it a
memorable day for us, and also Kay and Abby Charlton,
Merlin and .to. anyone that helped with the lunch.
Thankyou all so very much. Fifty some guests sat down

peeled and sampled. She told

warmers. and a, new type of
whipped topping.
Roll call for this, meeting
was to bring a friend and in-
troduce her.

Lunch refreshments of
Christmas cake. cookies and
coffee were enjoyed.
Evelyn closed the meeting
with a Christmas poem.

Rev. John Campbell spoke
Sunday morning at Church of
God on the theme. "His
'gift...and. mine:". Special
music was provided by a
women's choir singing; Free-
lv.freely.

Christmas program was held.
The kindergarten. primary
and junior class. Bible Moun-
taineers and the two youth
classes combined for a
Christmas pageant with the
-Christmas story narrated.
The adult class had a
playlet on theChrist birthday
theme.. A group from the
Beaconaires club sang a
dumber under the direction of
Dr. Archie Brown. •

A film was shown on. The
Christmas Spirit, followed by
a time of fellowship and lunch
refreshments in the S S
rooms.
Fifteen attended the
youth's Christmas party.
Saturday. by skating at the
Zurich arena. then back to the
church to practice for. the
Christmas program. followed
by supper and games at the
home of Jim Rumball.
United Church news
The United -.Church was
beautifully decorated for the
Christmas season. with pine
branches., wreaths. poinset-
tias. lighted candles and tree.
Organ prelude music was
played by Clark Adams.
On this fourth. Sunday in
Advent the fourth candle was
lit by Patti Love:
A Christmas Canticle -was
read inunison. Scripture was
read by William Love.
In Rev. H. Moore's sermon.
he spoke of the values of home
and family. on the topic.""Are
you going home for
Christmas
The choir sang the anthem.
"Christ the Lord is born."
In. Rev. Moore's story for
tht children. he told them of
a teddy bear with a problem
As the teddy hear sat on the
store shelf he was all dusty
and a button off his clothing.
A little girl came in the store
and decided she loved him
and would dust him off. Rev.
Moore said none of us is
perfect. we should be willing
