Marj Park presented the
final Minute for Missions for
1982 reporting that the Mis-
sion and Service giving for
our congregation has reached
80 percent of its objective for
the year. She quoted the
Moderator. who pointed out
that "the pain and hurt of the
world do not diminish when
our gross national product
decreases". The Christmas
Eve service on December 24
will provide a special oppor-
tunity to offer a gift to Jesus
through the mission fund of
the church.
Dorothy Dedels was pre-
sent to tell one of her special
stories to the children before
their departure for Junior
Congregation. An elderly
who livedfar away. Two sent
elaborate gifts, but the third
came himself- bringing only
.love.
Only the third gift satisfied
• the longing of the father's
heart. So it is with Jesus at
Christmas. He longs for us
and the love of our hearts.
Mr. Brown spoke about the

of the world.
Lucan senior choir has its
last practice for special
Christmas music Wednesday
at 7:30. Junior choir will.not
meet again until January 8.

several cases of pediculosis,
or more commonly know as
head lice, in the school during
the fall term.
Please do not be embar-
rassed if you think your child
may have caught it because
they can be easily acquired
where children or.adults are
in contact with someone who
has them. Just call the school
nurse. who will assist in the

Biddulph-Lucan Central
School was one of the many
schools in the county which
participated in the cross-
country meet at Longwoods
Conservation Area. There
were over 200 runners in each
division and 1100 runners
altogether.
Our eight outstanding run-
ners in this meet were; Mike
Radcliffe placing fourth in
boys 11 and under, Jennifer
Gee who placed ninth in girls
11 and under. Others who ran
in the 11 and under were:
Tracey Kwasniki placing 29th
and Jennifer Milton, 42nd for
the girls. Brian Vandergulik
placed 32nd and Shawn Kraft.
33rd for the boys class of 11
and under.
In the 12 and over class
Valerie Fretz placed 17th in
the girls and John R. Mac-
Donald placed 25th for the
boys.

nual Christmas pot luck sup-
per and meeting Wednesday
evening.

welcomed everyone and all
enjoyed a supper
smorgasbord supper; follow-
ing which they browsed
through the leftover bazaar
items while the room was be-
ing'cleared for the program.

Christmas" written by Nor-
ma Clare of Riverside United
Church, London, brought

meaning of this sacred holi-
day. The part of the hurried,
harried, mother who had -no
time ' for her 11 -year old
daughter, was taken 'by
Dorothy Dedels and the part
of the daughter, trying -
desperately to talk to her
mother about the meaning of
Christmas. was taken by Iva
Hodgins. .
She finally 'got through to
her 'mother' and the playlet
ended on a happy note when
all present seems to worship
together at the manger scene,
complete with the Holy fami.-
ly, the' shepherd and the
. wisemen from the East. It is
a playlet well worth borrow-
ing from the Resource
Centre.
A beautiful Candlelight,
Worship Service was directed
by Beth Cowdry, assisted by
Meth Miller, Sue Barr, Barb
Wallace and Kit. Hearn. Flora.
Robertson was the accom-_
paniest for the playlet and the
service of worship.
