Sherwoods get two big wins
The Exeter Mohawks in-
creased their season record in
the South Huron intermediate
hockey league to nine vic-
tories and two losses with
.three straight victories this
week.
Monday night the Mohawks
edged the Centralia College
Saints 7-6, Tuesday they
trounced the St. Marys Spit-
fires 13-3 and Thursday they.
downed the defending cham-
pion Zurich Buckeyes 10-3.
In Monday's close win over
the College Saints the
Mohawks were forced to
come from behind a 4-1 early

Late in the second period,
the two -teams traded goals.

The Exeter.atoms gained a
hard fought 1-1 lie with
Strathroy in Shamrock league
action, Sunday night.
David Dalrymple scored
midway through the third
period on a pass from Rob
McLelland to put the locals on
even terms. -
Jeff Lamantis with passing
help from Wes Wardell was
the Strathroy marksman.
Steve Sillery turned in a
sparkling performance in the
Exeter goal:
The tie marked the third
straight tough game between
the two teams: Exeter won
the first game early in the
seasonal horpe by a 1-0 score
and the two clubs later played
a 2-2 tie in Strathroy.

pair of victories
The Centralia Marauders
chalked up two wins this week
in the South Huron in-
termediate hockey league.
Friday, the Marauders
coasted to a 13-4 win over
Rostock and Sunday they edg-
ed the Zurich Buckeyes 3-2.'
The Centralia win Over
Rostock was a two man show
as far as scoring was concern-
ed. Rick Funston led the scor-
' ing spree with six goals and
Blair Hearn was right behind
with a five goal effort.
Scoring one goal apiece for
the winners were: Mari/
Cronyn and Matt Muller. In
the playmaking department
Mark Cronynwas tops with
four four assists and Matt
Muller,Terry Underhill and.
Perry Knee each help set up
three goals.
The Marauders with the on-
ly goal of the first period ex-

the second session and held
off a Zurich rally in the final
period to register Sunday's 3-2

Mohawks win three times
The Hensel) Sherwoods
came up with two lopsided
victories in the South Huron
intermediate hockey league
as, they continued to hold
down first place.
The. Hensel! club has. lost
only one game. The Exeter
Mohawks with a pair of losses
are in second place.
The Sherwoods trounce
Brookside of the North Oxford
league .17-2' Thursday night
,and defeated the same team
by a similar 16-2 score the
following night.
In the first. game' Ken
Varley was the scoring star of
the Sherwoods with a six goal
performance. Jamie Caldwell
was actually the top point get-
ter for the winners with Iwo
goals and six assists for an
eight point night.
Brian Maher and Dwight
Consitt were next in line with
a hat trick each totheir credit
and each added the same
number of assists..
Jamie Caldwell and captain
Dave Kinsman each checked
in with two goal perfor-
mances and Lloyd Allan fired
a single successful -shot while
Terry Caldwell provided four
assists.
Friday night it was Jamie
Caldwell's turn 'to lead the
