Exeter senior citizens en-
joyed a delicious Christmas
dinner served by the Legion
Ladies' Auxiliary, • Wednes-
day at the -Legion Hall.
Words of welcome were ex-
tended by past president Ken

ed the dinner. •

Services for a 'donation
received.
Mr. Hart had copies of
"Candle light" a news letter
for senior citizen edited by
Gwyn Whilsmith and asked
for contributions. Thii is the
first edition of a newsletter for
senior citizens of Huron
• County. •
This newsletter can be the
place where you can share
your wisdom. memories and
expertise. '•We invite all
senior citizens clubs and nur-
sing homes to make use of
this newsletter to publicize
their most interesting events
and to honor members who
have gained renown for one
reason or another."
Mrs. Thomson the new
president • announced
meetings for January,
February and March will be
held the first Monday. at 1:30
p.m. at the Legion Hall.
A program convened by
Mrs. G Lavender followed.
Mrs. Marilyn Johnston con-
ducted a lively sing song.
Rev. J. W Sutton brought a
message urging seniors to en-
joy living. V. e should not think
that when we get to be 70 our
life is over: The solid things of
life are social. don't shut
yourself away from other peo-
ple: physical. as much as you
can enjoy some physical ac-
tivity: emotional. it's a time
for love. anger. sadness; and
spiritual. faith. hope and
understanding.
Keep the lines of com-
munications open and try to
understand some of the things
that are going on in the world
around us. - .
Mrs. Johnston conducted a
contest in naming familiar
Christmas carols. accom-
panied by Blanche Dougall. at
the piano.
A note of thanks to
everyone was moved by
Garnet Hicks. and. an en-
joyable evening was brought
to a close by singing •-O
Canada." ' •
When author Margaret Mit-
chell found that 'Gone with .
the Wind' was to be made in-
to a movie. she suggested that •
Groucho Marx be cast in the
role of Rhett Butler.

Institute at Clandeboye
enjoy festive program
The Christmas 'meeting of
the Clandeboye Women's In
stitute was held at the home
of Mrs. Gerald .Linn. The
women came at 1:30 p.m. and
hada dessert lunch before the
meeting. prepared by Hazel
Williams. Jean Hodgins and
Isobel Simpson. President,
.Edie Worthington. opened
with the Institute Ode. Mary
Stewart Collect, and a
Christmas prayer.
Gifts for the Christmas
Cancer baskets and cupboard
were brought in by the
members. Donations to Com-
munity House. War Memorial
Children's Hospital and Ilder-
ton Fair 4-H competition.
were decided on. A card was
signed by everyone to send to
011ie Hodgins. who is in St.
Joseph's Hospital having
surgery on her knee.
The Christmas program
was presented by Group 1.
They presented a skit "A
Christmas Surprise." Taking
part were Elsie Lewis.
Marion Hodgson. Velma Har-
dy, and Edie Worthington.

The St. James Anglican
Church' Women held their
Christmas meeting Thursday
afternoon with president.
Hazel Cunningham in charge.
The meeting was held at the
Craigwell Apartment of Mrs.
Evelyn O'Neil. who. during
the meeting was presented
with a lovely floral table cen-
tre. in appreciation of the
many years she was
secretary of the A.C.W.
before moving to Ailsa Craig.
Following lunch. the
members visited with ether
residents in the Apartments
as well as the nursing home.
4-H Das
4-H Achievement Daywas
held in Lucan on Saturday.
Clandeboye Club No. 1 had
nine members complete the
project "4-H Bread Winners."
Mrs. John DeWeerd was the
leader.
Clandeboye Club No. 2 led
by June Henry and Elaine
Noyes. had 5 members com-
plete. June Henry was
presented with a live: year.

Clarence Millson was
honoured on his 89th birthday
yesterday when his family
gathered at the Knotty Pine.
Restaurant for a lovely din-
ner. followed by an evening of
visiting at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Ralph Millson in
London. The Clandeboye
community extends best
wishes to this respected
gentleman. who still enjoys
reasonable good health. •

Pentecostal women meet
The December meeting of
the Women's Ministries of
Exeter Pentecostal Church
was held at the home of Mrs.
Jean Jolly with 15 members
present.
The meeting was opened by
singing Hark the Herald
Angels Sing, Joy to the World,
Silent Night and I Know God's
Promise is true. The singing
was accompanied by Mrs.
Leila Finkbeiner.
Roll call was answered with
a scripture verse containing
the name of "Jesus". Minutes
of the last meeting were read
by Edith Millar. The financial
report was read by Mrs. Mary
Blanchard.
A letter was read by Mrs.
Mary Blanchard from mis-
sionaries - Brian and Colleen
Rennick. Shirley Prouty sang
a lovely solo entitled "Over
There", accompanied on the
piano by Leila Finkbeiner.
Several testimonies were
given.
Mrs. Susanna Cann then
sang a lovely solo entitled
"Star of the East". She was
.accompanied by Ruth
McLaren on the piano.
Ada Triebner gave the
message of the afternoon ba.-
ing her message on Iso. 9:6.
The name of Jesus shall be
called "Wonderful,
Counsellor, the Might God, the Prince of Peace." Jesus is
the everlasting Father and all we need.
