Crediton women hear farm broadcaster

The Crediton Women's In-
stitute met recently in the
town hall and were host to the
Kippen, Zurich, Hurondale,
Dashwood and Grand Bend
W.I.'s. The meeting was open-
ed with the Ode and Collect
and words of welcome from
president Mrs. Dave Cottel.
Mrs. Peter Martin was in
charge of the programme. A
sing song was conducted, Lois
Hodgins played the piano.
Irene Dietrich won the contest
for the most letters in her
name. Alma Morlock gave
two poems.
Birthdays on December 1
were Nola Ratz and Ross Dai-
ly. Mrs. Martin read the mot-
to, "Have You Waved at a
Farmer Today?" The Accor-
dion Group consisting of Irene
Dietrich, Angela Fleming,
Robert Hoffman, Debbie
Zielman, Joanne Verlinde
and their teacher Dianne
Verlinde played several
pieces.
Bernice Cooper read "The
song of a Lazy Farmer".
Gloria Bierling won the
elimination game.
Irene Haugh introduced the
guest speaker Ross Dlaily who

relationships. Another sing
song was enjoyed and lunch

Ross Daily's Aunt Delsey
from Vermillion Alberta, ac-
companied him. She is a
member of the Institute in
Alberta. Marg Dykeman won
the door prize, a Christmas
poinsettia.
A short business meeting
followed. The next meeting
will be December 8 at 7 p.m.
The roll call, "Bring a new
member or pay a fine."
Women elect
Thursday evening, the
United Church Women met in
the Sunday school rooms for
their Christmas meeting.
Each member was to bring a
guest and a total of 38 attend-
ed the worship service and in-
stallation of officers.

beiner and Doris Schwartz
brought the Christmas
message in story and song.
Thelma, Dwayne and
Jeremy Finkbeiner sang

ed home from Victoria
Hospital. Randy Smith was
home for a few days while his
mother was in the hospital.
The Crediton Firemens
Association held their
Christmas supper at the town
hall Saturday evening. The
meal was served by the
Crediton Womens Institute.
Pete Wuerth led in grace
followed by a toast to the
Queen and a toast to the wives
by Charlie Browning Jr. and
Don Dinney. After the meal,
Brian Elder read three poems
written by a friend of his in
Newfoundland.
Presentations were made to
Mr. and Mrs. Wilmar Wein
and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hoff-
man of fireman's mugs.
Fireman cups were sent
home to Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Hoffman in appreciation for
their work on the radio bases.
Progressive euchre was
played. Winners were ladies
high Linda Finkbeiner; ladies
low Marg Pertschy; men's
high Dennis MacDonald;
men's low Brian Elder; most
lone hands Pete W'uerth.
Don Dinney and Jerry
Gaiser then played their
guitar and banjo for a sing
song.
During the evening Alf
Smith was present,ed with a
plaque making hirh a Life
Time member of the Associa-
tion. A Christmas centre
piece was given to his wife
