Times-Advocate, 1982-12-08, Page 7MR. AND MRS. PAT GROOT Bonnie Jane Dowson and Patrick Frederick Groot were married at Brucefield United Church on Saturday, November 13. The bride is the daughter of Bill and Joyce Dowson, Varna and the groom is the son of John and Bridget Groot, Zurich. Rev. Wilena Brown officiated at the double ring ceremony. Marjorie Hayter was the organist and Peter Postill the soloist. The maid of honour was Brenda Dowson, and bridesmaids were Jeannie Groot, Tanis Denomme and Bonnie Pfaff. Ray- mond Mathonia was best man and John Dowson, Christopher Groot and Ralph Mathonia were ushers. The reception was held at the Hensall Community Centre. He urg- ed the 34 board directors, representing 27,000 Members in the Province to be more aware of rural women. Resolutions were • sustained on topics of Mental Health facilities in the North; Drugs; support programs for the disabled; a referendum re the death penalty and the need for tax revisions for the fruit farmers. Mrs. Harvey Noblitt, Ot- tawa, the president of the Federated Women's Institute of Canada informed directors of the projects and programs .for the next triennium. Members .are asked to study and have programs on "Unlimited Potential Women". Joyce Canning, represen- tative from the Rural Organizations and Service Branch expressed concern for new programs to meet the needs of todays lifestyle. Exciting challenges face the Membership as plans are being made for the Associated Cquntry-women of the World conference in Van- couver in 1983. Mrs. Clarence Diamond reported on plans to date, when 2,200 delegates from around the world are ex- pected and we share in hosting this special event. Education is a priority with 3 scholarships for advanced studies, 22 McDonald awards at Guelph University. County scholarships being presented, as well as $3,400.00 being sent to Ware College England for the training of students from underdeveloped countries. Junior Women's Institutes with a membership of 400, continue to present trophies for the Physiclly handicapped as well as have educational programs. The Officer Conference will be at Waterloo University May 3.4 and 5. Mrs. Jeanette VanSickle of Brantford com- pleted her term as. ROBERT MURRAY COLE Hensall United Church was the setting November 27, 1982 for the marriage of Carolyn Troyann Bell and Robert Murray Cole. The bride is the daughter of Meredith I. Bell and the late Stewart Bell of RR 2 Hen- sall and the groom is the son of Robert and Margaret Cole, RR 3 Clinton. Rev. Stanley McDonald performed the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Mary Moffatt, RR 3 Kip - pen was the organist and accompanied the soloist Miss Betty Beer, Hensall. The bride was accompanied to the alter by Mr. William H. Bell of Hensall, cousin of the bride. Maid of honour was Pauline Bell, Best Man was Ken Colson. Guests were ushered by Malcolm McEwen, Calgary and Jim Murray of Holland Landing. The recep- tion was held at the Pineridge Chalet.
